I'm not an engineer, but I don't think a wheel should twist like that... right?

Damn...you must be using some serious sticky icky tires!! But all serious-ness that does not look good.
Brian
11-10-2008, 01:55 PM
They look exactly like Racing Hart CP-035 wheels.
I was under the impression, from what I have heard from some "smart" people, that the replica wheels will be exactly the same as the real wheels in every way, excpet for the price.
This is starting to make me wonder and rethink my new wheel purchase...

I'll tell you what happened. They didn't do an FEA analysis on them.
Can you get a negative engineering safety factor?

^^^ You mean forged by chinese kid #14.... Go china powa....
vvtisupra
11-10-2008, 02:01 PM
forged ? hardley. Rota doesn't know the meaning of forged. Their forged = cast. Aren't rotas made in the phillepines.
!Zar!
11-10-2008, 02:03 PM
Yeah, those things are twisting.
Soon they will break.
lolz.
why wouldn't i buy rotas? because they are made in my home country the philippines... i'd never trust my kind to make quality performance wheels lol... probably made out of old spoons, forks, and tin cans....
oh yeah. looks tight. lol

11-10-2008, 02:10 PM
Hey I'm going to give rota props, they're getting better lol their old ones would've just broke! but if you can afford to build a 500hp motor, how the fuck can you not buy decent wheels?
How are they even able to sell products like this? you'd think it'd be illegal
murda-c
11-10-2008, 02:23 PM
duh, everyone knows when you buy rotas you get the super heavy ones cuz that's how you kno they're strong

I know it looks cooler twisted.
That is the funny part.
I'm in total agreement
put it on the other side to see if you can twist it the other way now.
all rims kould crack and bend with spokes like that real or not.
but real vs fake. you can tell the difference in weight.
rota slips vs rega evo night and day weight.

I might buy some and try to do that.
You think braking hard would have the same affect? I don't have 500hp..

Didn't you know? They're supposed to do that so after you're done at the track you can roll home lookin' cool
!Zar!
11-10-2008, 03:56 PM
How are they even able to sell products like this? you'd think it'd be illegal
They could say that under normal driving the wheels hold up fine.
During racing conditions, all parts wear at an accelerated pace.
So you can't really try and argue them.
Keep in mind I'm not protecting rota by this statement.
Only providing argument for the other side.

Because even though people have limited budgets they still insist on modifying their cars even though some modifications (like these wheels) are a step down.

Someone give sherlock here an award, we cant blame this on rota this time unfortunately, looks like someone didn't properly bolt in their calipers, their discs warped causing the caliper to make impact, or whatever is posted in french explaining the situation.
Fact of the matter is I think any wheel running at about 80-100 mph comes into contact with your caliper it should break or bend just like this.

looks to me like someone just slapped them on a car without any brake clearance. Which caused the spokes to get all fucked up when they drove away

Rotas aren't the best wheels in the world obviously,
but this case is the exception not the norm.
I wouldn't be afraid to buy rotas, however I don't want to. Its not safety or fear, just REAL wheels are always cooler ( now the rota fake te37s are tempting . . . )

Imaginary +rep for you and your detective work that no one else, even the OP, seemed willing to do.
Someone give sherlock here an award, we cant blame this on rota this time unfortunately, looks like someone didn't properly bolt in their calipers, their discs warped causing the caliper to make impact, or whatever is posted in french explaining the situation.
Fact of the matter is I think any wheel running at about 80-100 mph comes into contact with your caliper it should break or bend just like this.
... exactly! So what you're saying here is that the whole thing was caused by user error (the actual reason why most ANYTHING ever breaks, BTW) and was not the fault of the wheels in question?
Well I will be damned, I wish someone else had looked into that before starting a thread about it.
i got 500 whp,
and i have rotas, 2 of them,
15" slipstreams with 26x8.5x15 M/T Slicks

Funny thing, as well... I bet YOU properly installed yours as it relates to your brakes and have not had a problem in the world, right?
With proper information given that it was the installation that fails the wheels and not the other way around, and the fact that people will continue to ignore this fact, I will end this shit immediately.
