How much better is the T2871 than the S15 Turbo?

Also, what does A/R mean, there are 2 versions of the T2871, the 0.64 and the 0.86, what do these numbers represent?

Did you try searching?

GT2871R and GT28.

GT28 Spools 7-800 RPM faster than the GT2871Rs just like your T25 with about 50-75 HP more

A/R is the comparison between the exhaust and the intake housing of the turbo.

,86 means it has a bigger compressor side (Front Silver Side) meaning more power, but spools slower about 400 rpm slower.

.64 gets about 50 -75 HP less than the .86, but spools faster.

IN a nut shell.

Search next time or you gonna get locked, loaded, and flamed.

I would have to disagree...again it is going to depend on the quality of your boost controller - uprgading the solenoid (which will work to provide more response when working with the boost controller on top of it).

In my experience the GT2871R .64 can spool up exactly the same as a GT28R (s15 turbo), if both tuned in steady state in the same manner on the right kind of dyno. The differences are seen when larger camshafts and intake manifolds are applied to the same turbos. Under these differing conditions the GT28R will typically still spool up as fast but power will fall immensly even with larger 264+ duration cams after about 6500 rpms. The 2871R when paired with the same larger cams and intake manifold will keep making power farther into the higher rpm ranges, with very little change to over all spool up.

So imo, the only real advantage the .64 T28R has is cost

I would suggest going for the .64 2871R if you can. It is not a huge jump in output, but when paired with aggressive camshafts, intake manifold, larger throttle body and dyn tuning it is a 350-400hp capable turbo. (The GT28R is a 300 hp capable turbo)

Well of course you can tune for the world to change the characteristics.... but with stock to stock setup.... these are just general rule of thumbs that is all...

And again, not much use as his questions is so general that he probably is just going to swap turbo's just so it makes more power not overall balanced setup.... Oh wellz....Hence a lot of setups in SR20's are stock...

I tried searching something else, I think it was 'S15 turbo vs T2871' for a comparison.

Thank you very much, and the GT28 is the S15 turbo correct?

Als I said, that is correct.... Really you tried search? Wow....

Look in the tech threads. There is a thread on there about specially 2871R's, you will learn lots after reading 30+ pages of it....
