View Full Version : My first Dyno - 457whp @ 20 PSI....

Finally, i got the chance to tune my baby on a dyno.
Its a DynaPack, and its the only dyno in Israel, capable of holding load ponts, etc....
My street tune was pretty close, but i had some mild detonation, i couldnt pick up on the street, wich resulted in some minor timing trim.
On the other hand, i went for a bit leaner A/F and raised 1 psi more, to 20PSI.
A/F - 11.8-12.2
EGT - 1650 F
About 15 deg advance, at 25psi.
Normal pump fuel 98ron.

Its my DYI Built motor, 2022cc, Cp's, 8.8:1 CR, Tomei procams 260's, Greddy pleanum, GT3071R-wg - 0.86 AR, T25 flange, 850 sard's, ported head...
Had some serious problems holding constant boost at high revs with the internal gate - it appears to be too weak, even though its HKS, and totaly streched to the max.
Anyway, for 20 PSI, i think i should be happy with 457 at the wheels, and 380lbf.
What do you guys think, is that about right for my setup ?
BTW: Dynapack dynos meassure to the wheels, althought it says ther flywheels, its really at the wheels.

BTW: Anyone know of how does the DynaPack dyno, compare to other types of dyno, as diffrences in power/torque figures ?

Whats the motor?

i'm going to go out on a limb and say thats an SR...

well, 2022cc and to my knowledge greddy does not make CA18 plenum, FJ's are WAY too rare, 850cc injectors are overkill for 450hp for a 6cyl so its not RB20 I beleive it is an SR......

yea he runs a sr. hes been building it or gathering info for the last year and a half id say. over on freshalloy. good numbers tho.

Great job Danny!

Glad to see you got it dynoed! Hurray for another good Haltech number.

I think with a bit more timing you could hit 485+ though...

856 isnt the end of the world.

If they were doing consecutive runs with steady state 800 C is totally fine.

How did you get a HKS wastegate to fit?

First of all i have to apologize for two things, that i obviously forgot, but it was 4am in israel when i posted this.

1st - A lot of thanks goes to STEVE SHADOWS, for the help with the initial map and general tips for the Haltech ! Steve you are the man !!!

2nd - I am soo used to post about SR's, i didnt realized - so its an SR20DET - VVT.

Now for the EGT's, it only reaches 1650 above 240 km/h speeds, so usualy ita at about 1580 and such..... on the dyno it never passed 1580.

As for the timming, i got a bit of detonation, up high, so we had to turn down about 1.5 deg.
I am runing normal fuel pump, so didnt whant to push it.

I'd be glad to post my updated ingnition map, if anyone is interested.

I really had problems holding the boost above 20PSI with the HKS, and you can see in the above graphs' that even at 20PSI, its not that great.
I gues its more to do with the power the car puts down - hence the higher pressure in the cylinder/exhaust/etc - rather the the figure itself of - "20" psi.

I will take a picture of how i fitted it.

Can anyone give me an idea, of how do the DYNAPACK dynos, compare to other type of dynos ?

Thanks !!!

Dani! Dan!

Awesome numbers my man! Glad to see you finally got your Haltech/Car tuned.

The dyno packs are pretty comparable to other constant load dynos like dynodynamics or the mustang dynos. Unless they overheat (common problem, I am assuming you had the water cooling hooked up?) and the brakes slip giving you a higher output number.

Otherwise, looks amazing! Good job!

John deserves a big thanks as well for all the help with the Haltech !
Thanks man.

The dyno shop has the cooling for the DYNAPACK run thru a radiator system that is cooled all the times - its actualy a RallyCar building shop, so they have these things down to the letter.

Steve/John, if its not to much trublle , meaby you can take a look at my timing map, say if it doesnt look to advanced at the high loads etc....

Thanks, again guys !
