So, I've searched through this website and there seems to be lots of agreements and disagreements on the S13 jack stand points. So, I took some pictures to find out which are the correct points. I am going to replace the passenger side tension rod bracket this weekend.

Should I put them on these oval slots on the frame rails?

Or here, which is what I've seen from other arguments.

thanks for your help.

IMO either will work fine, frame rails are more sturdy, but harder to get the jack up to. If your putting it on a lift then use the frame rails and on rear use the circle sub-frame mounting points. if just jacking off ground, use diff for rear and side 'jack points' for the front

your 240 is auto? thats awesome. jk.

ANyway, i recommend jacking it on the outer points.

Thanks for the information, but I know where to jack the car up. I was curious which places were best for the jack stands.

i jack it up by the outer points and jackstands under frame rails. you must be monster truckin if you can fit a jack under your rails lol

My last couple 240's have been fucked up right around the front fender lower mounting tabs and the rear body seam where it meets the frame from jacking the car up under there.

On my S14, which is actually in pretty good shape under there, I jack the car up from the diff first (which I can barely get my low pro jack under), then put jack stands on the subframe-brace/support (circle things) in the back, then from the frame rail, and throw a jack stand under that. If I need to get to the front only (oil change, etc) I take my bumper off and jack up right behind the intercooler piping on the stock tow hook.

We need to start seeing some Jonnie Fraz custom strut tower bar tow hooks and garage-mounted winches... lower the hook, hook it to your strut tower brace, and lift. No jack neccessary!

with a floor jack you should use the front cross member, you should never use the frame rails they are not designed to take the pressure. once in the air you can put stands under the rail b/c you are splitting the weight between both rails.

with a lift you can use the rails b/c the weight is distributed more evenly.

cross member to jack up the front end.

i usually put stands on the frame rail.

never jack the car up via frame rail cause it will mangle. its a soft metal

thanks for your help. and i must be monster truckin because i can definitely get a jack under the frame rails. i don't have a "tricked out" 240 or nothing. just a daily driver.

I just up from the front cross member and put jacks on the frame "rails".

The inner rails are not your frame. The pinch welds is your frame. Putting weight on those inner rails will crush them. Look at anyone that have jacked or put stands under those things. They will be crushed.

FSM says use the frame rails, where the oval hole is

The best points for jackstands is at the front of the framerail just before it turns up towards the wheelwells/engine bay and at the very rear of the framerails just before they stop in front of the rear wheels. Both of those places are VERY strong and pretty much impossible to damage with a jackstand.

No, It doesn't.

for the s13, it does.

the s13 is jacked up on the cross member . stands go on the frame rails per fsm. put it close to end of frame rail and it wont crush. the pinch weld is for garages that are lifting with 4 points

Exactly.

I'm going to weld in some 16 Ga reinforcement plates where I usually put the stands just to strengthen it up a bit. They went a bit skimpy in some areas of the S13 IMO.

I did the repair this morning. I put the jackstands on the frame rails where the FSM shows. They didn't crush.

straight from the FSM.

When using a lift, with lift pads under the pinch welds raise the vehicle. you can do this with a lift because your only putting a 1/4th of the vehicle weight on each pad instead of 1/2 of it. when its in your little garage or barn. jack the car up using the rear differential and the engine crossmember and put your sturdy jack stands under the boxed in rails under the car. now any one that disagrees or has been spewing information that they "think" is right can STFU.

It's probably a '92 manual - that's what's floating around for KA24DE S13s.

To bad that info is out of date.

Haha, wow, I can't believe it's different for S13 and S14! That's crazy. Thanks AJ!

I'm resurrecting this thread... I just want to make sure I have the stands in the right place. Based on the s13 FSM, it looks like I'm right.

Thanks for the help!
