Once the front end was fit more snuggly, Time for the paint. I paint for a living so this was the fun part for me. ha ha. Used PPG DCC paint with a DAU primer applied with an HVLP gun and 2 quart pot

So, engine filter was replaced, exhaust leak was fixed, timing was adjusted and the CA ran great for quite some time....

So, Finally painted the engine bay as well..it was still orange during the CA occupation.

Front end is a little dirty as it was sitting outside for about three months.
This is a years worth of progress SEVERLY compacted into this thread. I let out a lot of details, and just posted pics


Now, the engine is a fully built KA, however to be cautious, im running it NA for the first 1k miles...then throwing on the turbo. Engine has zero miles on it.
Front mount will be installed
Engine will be around the 300 horse mark with 15lbs on the GT28r, however im selling the turbo and getting a t4.

This is how the car sits currently.
I will be turning it over this weekend

Questions on specs, what i used, wheel size, suspension etc...let me know. Engine rebuild kit was from AMSperformance.com

Hope you guys enjoy looking at the pics as much as I enjoyed building this car with a couple buddies of mine!
More to come, gonna repaint the car again for extra measure...and a bunch of other little goodies. ill update as I have time permitting

And yes...I have a detachable steering wheell...but stock is shown in the pics as im letting my buddy use the detachable. ^.^

The paint is a special kind of paint. It even stood up to the Hot tank and resurfacing. :wink:

To each their own really. I wanna start it up, run it, flush out all the little chips that are bound to be in the engine although I'm pretty sure we cleaned it good. 500 to 1k break in miles, change the oil and filter and then rock the engine with boost. It'll be fine. Done it this way before.

My car... S15 front on a 180 chassis, which is, go figure, essentially an s chassis with 180 tails and a hatch. Engine performance options varied between the silvia and 180. Now, my car has a built KA...so...it technically not even a 180...its a USDM 240sx. So wait...my car really IS confused!! Its a 240, with 180 tails, s15 silvia front ....damn. What DO I do? Lol

I've had people on the street ask me 'yo dude, is that an eclipse?? SIIICK!' Or I even have gotten 'bro, clean ass integra'

It pissed me off.

Ill take off the S15 rear emblem when I repaint the car, I have the lightning bolt s for the hood ill be putting on my s15 front USDM 240sx.

The current rear over fenders are crappy 30mm. I'm going with the chargespeed 50mm very soon before I paint. The 50mm actually lines up with the window line and trunk line where as the 30mm(like the pics show) do not. I find the 30mm look rather tacky, so I am replacing them. When I bought the car the 30mm were on the car already, and I just replace the screws with rivets for obvious reasons. Ill have pics up tomorrow of the car out of its dungeon. :)

The car is dope as hell. The badge just adds a little "rice" to it (in most of our opinions) that the car would be better off without. It's constructive criticism man. You don't hear anybody talking about how ghey the car is because of the badge, we just think it would be better without it. No big deal. :bigok:


EDIT: If YOU like the badge, then keep it. Just expect to hear about it from time to time. It comes with the territory. Hell I hear about how much of a piece of shit my car must be all the time, simply because it is un-painted and has like 7 different colors. In fact it is better put together than 75% of the cars here. It just comes with the territory because it LOOKS ugly.

i like the white painted engine block, i think it looks good (for now). not sure how it will hold up, but hey.. still looks pretty. although, i personally prefer an unpainted motor.. easier to clean with acid when it gets dirty.

as for the car, it looks "acceptable." i mean, you're taking a car that was beat-the-fuck-up and now bringing it back to more normal standards. i use the term "standard" loosely, because this community has been nothing but disappointment for the past X amount of years.. its been spiraling to shit. its fucking incredible that companies like megan are successful and that you guys buy brand-x knockoff seats when you have an option of buying USED GTR seats at the same price (which btw, are superior to any fucking seat out there). but thats just me, i cant speak for you gorilla-sized apes in Nowhere, USA who need a minimum size 20 seat (or size 30 for their overweight girlfriend).

I agree with you on a point you made. Yes my car is 'acceptable'. It can me sooo much better, but right now I'm getting it to the acceptable state to drive it while continuing to make improvements. Here is Washington, there is a lot of nasty lookin, primered 240s around and it is depressing. Welded diffs, eBay struts, rota wheels with zip ties everywhere. That's the normal up here in Washington it seems. *gag* Sorry, not my cup of tea.

My eventual goal is to supermade kit this car. I'm not just saying that cause its JDM tyte yo! I understand that good quality ish is expensive, and I work hard for the money I make, and I want to build this car into something I can be proud of. I have the time, energy and devotion to get this done the proper way (minus the silvia badge...lol).

Your view points can come across as rather hostile and harsh, but it seems you are a seasoned member of the Nissan scene and know what quality is. I view your statements as coming from a fellow who knows what the good gems are out there, and I value your constructive evaluation of my build. I encourage you to keep looking back at this thread and to post your ideas when you feel appropriate

it just sucks that its impossible to find an unmolested chassis nowadays. now that i am looking to buy another s13, i already have mine.. and at the very least if its been molested, its been molested by me. im the second owner and purchased it when it only had 65k, stock w/ auto transmission.

its a shame that every other 240sx you see on craigslist appears to have participated in "gangbang my asshole vol. 20." You find these clunkers for sale that have an SR but the rest of the car, amazingly enough, is in bukkake condition. seriously? how do people spend 2-3k on an SR20DET swap but fail to cleanup the chassis, body, and myriad of other broken parts on the car. its as if people forget that the dealership EXISTS and that parts are STILL available.

Engine now has 360 some miles on it.

For those of you who were wondering, the engine is running with a stock ECU, fuel pump and injectors. Yes, it is a little hesitant with those restrictions, but the engine is only in the car to be broken in. The upgrades will follow with the turbo.

When the engine is removed, I will hopefully have time to work on the body of the car, as it does need some work.

3071R....SICK. Very clean build for a daily driver. Don't worry what the others say. Those who have experienced any clean build knows how much money and time that has been invested into it. Therefore will appreciate it.

As for the Silvia badge, it's for your own personal taste. I could do without it IMO. But it's still clean and goes with the cars style.
