View Full Version : Coilovers + Camber

So I understand that when buying coilovers that come with pillowball upper mounts, you can adjust camber. The problem though is that coilovers only include front ones, but in the past, when I lowered my car with springs and shocks, its the rears on my s14 that suffer.
Would rear upper control arms remedy this problem?
whats the best cost effective way?

Depends how much you lower your car.
If it isn't a lot then you might be able to get away with stock adjustment.
Most likely you can't.
Go to splparts.com
Kuah will get you what you need.

stock adjustment works well to a certain point but if you plan on fitting wide wheels and going low i recommend rucas.
do not go cheap on rucas crap ones make squeeking noises after a few thousand miles.

If you slam it you'll need to adjust the toe as well to keep from chewing through tires, not just camber.

:stupid:
Camber doesn't eat tires Toe does. Radical Camber will make them wear unevenly over the life of them but, it won't rub them out in a few hundred miles like Toe will.
I have found that the Stock RUCAs are good till 1.5" drop and the stock toe rods are good till around 1.8~2" drop.

^So with those numbers above, the alignment shop should be fine with the room stock eccentric bolts allow for adjustment? correct?
Reason i ask is that i just picked up another car. Now i can make my daily more comfortable by taking off the coils and getting a shock and spring combo. I just want to make sure buying an extra set of aftermarket rucas and toe arms would be overkill or unnecessary for the subtle lowering i will get from a shock/spring combo.
Have you found any numbers for the stock tension rods, as far as room for adjustment until aftermarket is neccessary.
Thanks in advance

With my spring shock I was at 1.5" and needed ruca's.
When I went to coils at 1.8~2" I maxed out a toe rod eccentric.
Your millage may vary.
TG for lifetime alignment cause I had to order ruca's then come back to have it done again.

I was lowered on gr2/sportline combo and was able to get within stock specs with only rucas and tc rods
