Good day guys. Been an owner of a 1992 Maxima, 2004 Maxima, 2003 350z and 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe. As you can see I am a Nissan freak. My most recent purchase was a 1995 Nissan 240sx SE.

I know Nissan is a faithful vehicle but I am new in the 240sx world. This car has no modifications whatsoever, so it is stock to the bone, there are a couple of things that need to be taken care of, as with any used car. It has 168k miles and is automatic.

I fueled it up to the top and there's a small gas leak on the rear left side. Also the driver's window does not go down and the electric switch feels funny. I hear power going to the switch but that's it. I t has the "tuk" sound. I will try replacing the switch. and on idle the rpms go from 600 to 950 up and down, but when the vehicle is driven it rides nice. Im guessing a sensor. Will hook up a computer to see what's wrong with it. I also have to replace the muffler.

Anything else that I need to know about this car?

Any tips?

Also, is there a website that sells used parts that only deals with 240sx's???

Thanks

with the window its usually the switch or the window amp

where is the gas leak?

and there are plenty of conditions that will make the idle fluctuate IIRC idle should be 700 rpm and will go upto 850-900 when there is an electrical load or when the A/C has been turned on

Rear sub frame bushings should be about shot at this point. Nothing big spacers should fix that.

O you can clean out the AIV with some throttle body cleaner, search that on here and you'll find some info on how to do it.

Thank's guys. It will be my daily driver and that's it. Not planing on doing anything to it. I will leave it stock.

I haven't figure out exactly where the leak is. I will lift the car and see if I'm able to figure it out.

Falkon, I will try cleaning that and also will try to buy the window switch.

Gas leak is comming from the Fuel pump outlet tubings to the hardline.

My friend just replaced the tubings on his s13. Same leak from the rear passenger side.

Simple problem. The rubber tubing from the fuel pump that goes to the hard line gets brittle.

Go to Autozone and get 2-3 feet of it, cut it to size, Get under the car, pull off the old tube (watch out for pressurized gasoline). That's it.

That's what I assume it may be.

Stoichiometric. Will do that tomorrow. Thanks. About the timing chain I'll have to see how much that would go for. Im planing on keeping this car for about 6 months 'cause I'm getting deployed next year. This will be to go from my house to work. Also the is a noise that comes from the trunk.

When the trunk is closes it moves up and down. Someone told me that the trunk lock has to be adjusted. Am I correct?

Thanks

You can just move the latch up or down. It should be 2 or 3 10mm bolts that holds that latch.

Timing chain is $75-100 dollars depending if it comes with the guides and tensioners.
And this price is for good aftermarket made in Japan chains.

Timing chains last for practically forever, but do expand. I don't see the need to change it even for 100k or 200k. My car is reaching 200k and it's still doing great. Timing has been on the dot for the last 5 years, never adjusted.

I check it every 3 months, and everything is great. GOod luck.

You should do the chain later on, if it is not giving you any problems and you're getting deployed soon anyway.

95s were problem cars on the main window switch, it was redesigned in 96. Go ahead and cough up the money for a new one, the likelihood of finding a working used one isn't good. Even if you do it won't last long.
