Which do you prefer? I have looked through a lot of threads and these seem to be the two companies that stand out the most. They're pretty comparable in price so I just want to know which one you guys think are stronger, better design, etc.

I don't have any experience with Battle Version products, however I have experience with SPL parts and I'd definately recommend them.

I like the new hybrid adjuster SPL uses.... after I was able to understand how it works - Thanks to Kuah

I have battle version RUCA just because I got a great deal on them. If I had to buy new ones, I would go with spl. They are cheaper anyways and great reputation.

i run battle version on both of my cars and am soooooooo happy with it!

at one point in time i was in desperate need of replacement parts and alex had them at the track! (this was due to my negligence from wall contact :) ) spl has never had that

however...

spl has innovative designs! my s13 is much too low, therefore i had to go with the kinked toe arms and their s13 rucas since my s14 style BV ruca's seemed to hit the coilover. i wouldn't put the quality of either one above eachother, but alex has always been there when i need parts either at track or behind the phone. his rollcage also kicked major ass and went right in!

BATTLE VERSION...for me!!

either is fine.

spl may have a teeny tiny 1up right now with the little lock clamps on the rod ends.

One plus for battle version, (not sure if SPL will do this or not) from what i've heard, Alex will sell just one side of a suspension arm set in case you crash or whatnot. Again, I've never done this and I don't run BV links but I have just heard that he sells just one side if you need.

I have met Alex in person and had him align my car twice and he is very knowledagble, very friendly and willing to explain stuff to someone who knows nothing (ME).

SPLparts gets nothing but good reviews as well though... so tough choice.

BV is awesome.

Parts are awesome.

I'm sure that SPL is awesome too but I don't have personal experience with them.

SPL's always updating their products and offering reasons as to why it is improved over the previous one. Also, their tech support is super awesome. They also offer upgrades for people who have purchased older products but want the new updated ones.

I have never tried Battle Version, but BV is not based in america right? So you have to go through a third party vendor to reach them? I'm not sure.

But, SPL is in TEXAS and they are AMERICAN. So, part the reason why I support their products (other than the fact they are top quality and have awesome customer support) is because they are americans and I would rather support American manufacturers than japanese. It's just the patriotic thing to do.

but yes, their parts are top quality, super beefy. They also love their customers, not many companies out there in the car industry that treat their customers how the customers want to be treated.

SPL. Ordered black tension rods, got a call the next day saying they were out of stock (in black v. 2) and what they could do for me. I choose to wait, they said it would be up to 2 weeks but they would ship the rest of my order ahead as if it were on schedule. The rest came in on time as said then a day later the tension rods showed up. Also talked to them through AIM, responsive and followed up with my order.

I have not dealt with Battle Version but I have heard good things as well.

For SPL so far, great.
Going back for toe and traction arms very shortly.

I have always had Battle Version.
I know Alex has personally helped me at the track when I broke my old BV upper control arms. He always seems to have stuff with him at the track.

100% happy with his stuff.

hmmm.. no, they are both US companies. Granted, they both have used
overseas parts at one time or another. Most arms companies do.
Think SPL has their stuff built here now. Not sure about Alex.

spl stuff has not snapped, bent or binded driving my car at my current ride height daily for a year.

i think thats pretty cool.

SPL if you ask me.

I've ran the shit out of their stuff for a few years now. Had an issue once with my rod ends but kuah took care of it with the quickness.

SPL is tough as nails and kuah's service has been great.

"Compare our traction rods against the competition. The difference in the diameter of the tubing used can be clearly seen in relation to the width of the bracket. We use the largest size tubing possible so our arms have the maximum cross section, which gives the maximum strength."
That is what sold me in the end for SPLPARTS. Thickness.

Well.. that and they used Endura Rod Ends and have great rep

I think we can all agree that these 2 companies both have great products and great service.

I suppose now it is just a matter of price.

I've heard a lot of good things about BV though.

SPL if not just for the "lifetime upgrade" factor... that shit is tits

MeanS14
10-29-2008, 04:02 PM
I think if you add up the price for all the suspension arms for both BV and SPL, the BV is only $56 more so price isnt really a factor to me. The votes in this thread are pretty much 50/50 so it looks like ill be good either way I go. The lifetime upgrade factor is definitely a big plus for me. I think im gonna go with SPL but does anyone know why they discontinued the anodized blue option? I dont really like the whole stealth black

Shit is for function.

This isn't a car show. That's like putting gold colored pistons inside your motor. What difference does it make. Can't really see it anyways.

I'm glad they have black now.

i run battle version. they're easily adjustable, and they're good quality parts. i bought them through enjuku, so i can't talk too much about customer service, though.

one complaint i do have about BV is that the "plated" parts of the arms have a little surface rust on them. i do live in Florida, though, and i also live off of a dirt road. in any case, though, i think that's unacceptable.

!Zar!
10-29-2008, 10:03 PM
Do you find it unacceptable that your car it's self has some rust?

aznpoopy
10-29-2008, 11:34 PM
rust and wear are 100% expected and unavoidable. which is why rod ends are individually replaceable.

I agree, color doesnt matter. Function > color. Just wondering why they discontinued the blue.

Probably wasn't selling.

Not to mention having all those different colors probably caused some colors to be back ordered while they still had some of the less desirable ones sitting around in stock.

Limit what you sell to something simple that way no one can complain. It's smart business especially with the crappy economy.

I had a set of Battle Version Tension Rods on my 95. They held up great. I just can't get the one out right now! eventually selling them and going with spl or teins on my 90.

I like my SPL stuff wether it be the tension rods, rucas, brake lines. Everything was shipped promptly. They even threw in a sweet SPL sticker :D. I also like how they are always on AIM during the day so you can ask questions.

What? BattleVersion is more expensive?

IMHO they look like every other suspension arm out there. From teh pictures I've seen, the toe arms and RUCAs don't have kinks in them to help with lowered cars.

yes, i do. rock chips are about the only place it's rusting, and everyone knows those are a bitch.
rust and wear are 100% expected and unavoidable. which is why rod ends are individually replaceable.indeed, they're easily replaced, but my point is that they've been on the car less than a year, and BV makes it a big deal talking about the chrom-moly coating or some dithering about that.
