YouTube - ka24de manual swap first start up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46Gbx5sWBjw)
check out the video, i think the engine is knocking on the idle. after i finish swapping the 5speed tranny. i think that i took off the distributor cap to see if it have any wear. is the timing off causing this problem?
help!

You'd know if it was knocking. LOL...
BTW, how was the swap? Going to do the same on my S13 pretty soon.

+1 sounds like they may need to be bled or replaced possibly.
Just got a motor back in my car and it sounds the same, leaning torwards the lifters making the noise since it is a slight tapping and is consistent with the revs.

my s13 dual cam made that same noise but it went away after a few minutes of driving. i ended up raising my idle to 800 and adjusting my timing and i haven't heard it since.

I don't know if we're all listening to the same video but, I still hear the timing chain.

That is a common band aid fix for timing chain rattle.

for those who said, timing chain, you guys are right, i removed the timing chain guard, there are wears. i just removed it. never heard of knocking anymore. but the idle drop to 900rpm. is that normal? the tranny swap was sweet. 5speed!!! whoo
