Testing waters, trades welcome 1998 Silver moss 240sx, 65k miles

I bought this car in January with 53k on the clock, with big plans for an RB or LS1 swap. Unfortunately, certain circumstances (mainly this damn economy) have forced me to realize that i wont be able to get the car where I want it to be any time soon.

The car is 99.5% stock. The only modifications are Megan Racing tension rods, and a Megan racing 3" stainless steel exhaust. The exhaust is very quiet- I like my cars to be subtle, and I havent had ANY problems with the police for it. The car has new brakes, clutch, and tires (falken 912's).

Now for the bad. The only bad parts of the car are purely cosmetic. During a drive to Maryland, I hit an already dead raccoon on the highway that I thought would clear under the car. Unfortunately, the front bumper hit it and cracked it slightly. It needs a new front bumper because of this. There are also two minor spots on the rear bumper that are missing paint. The car has never been in a real accident (just the raccoon incident).

I paid $10k for this car 6 months ago, so while I'm not expecting to recoupe all of this money, I'm looking for offers in that relative ballpark, or trades for a car that already has a swapped motor. Im not specifically looking for another 240, but it is definetly an option. The only real requirement I have as far as trades is that I'd like something 1990 or newer, in a RWD or AWD platform, and it has to be "peppy," if you know what I mean.

Can you substantiate your claim that the car has never had any paintwork? Do you have the stock exhaust?

yes it is stick. It does need to have the new top put on, I have it, just havent gotten around to putting it on yet. Its kinda of a pain in the a$$ because of all the clips and staples so I have been putting it off.

not to be a downer, but you are asking a lot of money for that car. the nicest one i can make on kkb in excellent condition (which no cars are unless they are better than showroom floor quality) is $7,500 tops.

to make my first post even better, your car needs paint work, the clearcoat and both bumpers is bad, the paint on them is faded, the driver door looks a completely different color than the rear quarter panel. I wouldnt consider that 5k offer a lowball by any means. just because your car has low miles and is a "highly desireable tuner car" doesnt mean its worth a lot. its also from the east coast, which means it will rust out faster than other cars. offers you get around 7k i would take immediately, as that's the highest you would get by a lot of standards.

Thank you for your opinion, even though I did not ask for it. What you think my car is worth couldnt matter less to me. I know what I paid for the car. I know how uncommon the car is. I havent even decided if I want to sell it yet, and the thread title clearly says testing waters. I would much rather trade it than sell it, because I know I wont see 10 grand out of it. But at this time, Im not letting it go for less than $8500.

Also, this car was a Texas car. It has been on the east coast for less than a year.

To anyone else who feels the need to voice their opinion on my asking price: save it. If you cant afford it, move along. If you arent interested, move along. This is a rare car in a rare color with extremely low miles and in overall very good condition. KBB doesnt mean shit to me.

Only the front and rear bumpers need to be repainted. The rest of the body is fine, save for a few door dings. I will provide the VIN to serious buyers through PM. As I already stated, interior pic's will be provided asap. Anything else?

I wouldnt mind paying 8.5-9K or so for a low mileage 240sx. Its a rare year and a rare color. It does have cosmetic flaws so you need to take that into consideration on the price.

Edit: Ive seen your WRX. I love it, its incredibly clean. But your asking price is 16.5... I dont have 7 grand to throw on top. If you could remove mods from your car so I'd only have to throw like 2500 on top, then yeah, id be down in a second. You also said in your thread the only trade you'd be interested in is an S2k..
