need a little help to diagnose a problem with my drivetrain.

i usually dont ask for any help much i just need some opinion on what might of gone wrong.

i went to the drag track on saturday. my car ran fine for the first 3 runs and afterward it didnt run that great no more.

mods to the drivetrain

welded diff.

one wheel will spin and the other wont it would steer to the right when i launched my car in the beginning. i looked under my car and found nothing wrong with the axels no tear in the axel boots or anything. only thing i found is that the bushing on the subframe holding the passenger side RUCA was was bad.

but when i was done with the 4th run the passenger rear side would clunk really loud and feels like it wont budge or spin the wheel especially when i do a right turn. didnt do this before i went to the track. upon going home i get this weird grinding noise coming from the sort of like the by the diff and the driveshaft driving at 10 mph-75mph on the way home. after that i didt drive the car no more and was wondering what was going on.

what could cause this problem???????

take a look in the diff. sounds like something went wrong in there.

either blew a spider gear...

maybe..

but i think you spun a bearing in the diff..
like on the carrier.. take your diff out. and see..

Souds like your welded diff broke.

Yeah, you blew the welds or the tips broke off.

DO NOT drive your car any more.

All it takes is a piece of metal or debris to get stuck between your ring and pinion gear to lock your rear end up.

I've seen it happen a few times.

Not fun or safe at all.

I'm not a rocket surgeon, but if a welded diff spins one wheel, it's probably the axles splines in the other hub. But, if it is the diff play the lotto today. Post pictures of the diff.

Same thing happened to me last summer, I didn't think I'd break it either, but I did. And have since learned never ever drag with a welded diff. At least it's just your diff and not everything else like axles and transmission that happened to me.

If you can afford it a kaaz 2 way is $795 shipped, best mod I have ever done to my car period

hey if the diff didn't go i think eventually something else would've. just a spider gear though means you still got some luck on your side. welded diffs are really not all that reliable. they create a lot more stress on the rest of the drive train.
