Are the any good lowering springs with a similar spring rate to the stock coils so I don't blow my struts?

You can't take away travel and go lower than stock. You'll be bottoming out everywhere.

Plus your stock struts were almost surely dead last decade on an S13... so just replace it all and do it right.

I would actually want stiffer springs if I was going to lower my car with springs. You lose a lot of travel and stiffer springs are necessary to prevent the shocks from bottoming and destroying themselves. The best lowering springs out there are the RS*R race springs. They are 5k/4.5k or so. TEIN s-techs are similar to stock spring rates, but they don't lower the car hardly at all.

I see.. How are KYB GR-2's?

What springs will lower my car to the point where there isn't a huge wheel gap? I'm not looking for super slammed or anything. Just something that will sit flush with a 205/50/16 that also perform decently.

Gr-2's are just a stock replacement. i have eibach sportlines and Gr-2's and its crap... lowered my car a bit but nothing worth writing home about. good if your looking for a little lowering but stock rideability and youll kill a little wheel gap with SE's if you have stock tire size.

Garbage.

Tein S-Tech springs + GR-2s + S13 = Blown strut after 3 days of normal driving with my fat ass and a passenger.

Actually, Teins compared to most springs are actually pretty low. I mean its not slammed to the ground low but its atleast 2.5-3 inches all around. Most lowering springs only dropped 1.75-2.25 inches. I know its lower that my eibach sportslines.

PS: stay away from eibachs, i blew my stock shocks on those within a week due to the spring rate. Mind you, this was on a 97 S14 back in 2001 that had less than 30k miles on it.

ive had eibachs for years no problem but THEY SUCK DONT HAVE ANY REALLY LOWERING! and eibach are progressive (spring rate) at least pro-kits are...

dont buy agxs, fuck the dumb shit and save for COILS!!! thats the only reason i have eibachs is because im saving for EX-V's and they were dirt cheap with a lifetime warranty when i worked at a parts store. COILS!!! FTW:fawkd:

Much wiser.

Don't cheap out on crappy eBay springs either. They suck giraffe dick.

So I guess I'm going with AGX's..

Now which springs will give me a nice flush drop and perform rather well?

agx dont really feel any different no matter how much you play with the knobs lol hahahaha... save up for some KONI and RS*R springs if u REALLY want to get anything nice... race springs are way better down springs are just to low for normal strut and spring combo... i only have eibach cause i wanted to try them out until i saved up for some COILS which i recommend you do almost everyone ends up wanting coils after getting springs... im saving up for some PBMs theres a few low priced ones i can tell you right now from memory megan & godspeed can be found for less than 1k and for a few bucks more than 1k you can get PBM, Endura-tech, some teins...
if u want to get something nice from the start i read great things from stance and dg-5 never tried either of them sadly

Nice drop and springs dont go well...like I said, the lowest one would probably teins. I know on my sportlines, I chopped 2 coils off get it to where I want it. Run it like that for a good year and a half till i finally said fuck it and got coilovers...

If you're going with Eibach... Prokits are gay and have basically no drop. Sportlines are better and lower and still comfortable.

Like I said, I'm not looking for a crazy drop.

Something like this. I believe he is using S-Tech's I'm not sure.

BTW: The tire wheel setup I'm looking to get is XXR 002's 16x8 +0 with 205/50/16 dimensioned tires.

hmm...i dont really know but as soon as i got my coupe i bought some Tokico HP(blues) and some tien s-tech...there really good and drop about 1.5 inches...not bad..better and stiffer then stock...though i wouldnt recomend drifting just yet...well i can cuz i got 15' rims and some minor after market..you know swaybars, strut bars, chamber arms, new tie rods, end links, and a kazz diff (full posy) od some tanaka sub-fram bushing i got off of ebay..lol...http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b103/sadness01/240sx/11.jpg

Looks like there shouldn't be any wheel gap considering the 002's sit flush with the fender on an s13.

WaNa-DrIft

oww..then ahh you should get your fenders rolled just a bit..ahh if it sits flushed then id go with some really stiff coilovers..lol SCRAP SCRAP..if you know what i mean...lol

sitting flush doesnt mean anything unless you are low enough.
flush + not low = looks like ass and wheel gap.

+1 imaginary rep, ill give you a high five at the meet lol.

anyway hes right, itll look stupid.

plus the whole point of lowering springs is to "enhance" the handling so of course they will be stiffer. if you wanna just lower your car cut em jeez.

I meant flush offset wise. From the looks of it if I had S-Techs with 002's the fender should sit just above the sidewall.

Of course. I meant Offset wise too... what other ways are [email protected]

You need 17's or 18's to do that.
S-Techs wont lower you enough.

On top of that...
You will blow your struts in... who knows how long.
If they arent already blown.
They are already old.

Just get some cheap coilovers. adjust it to the height you want.
Be done with it.

If you want to change it... you can.

Either buy someone elses used setup, or buy coilovers.
Its senseless to buy all new stuff to not be satisfied with the height.
Believe me... I had Tein S-Techs.

This is my s13 with gr2's and eibach sportlines. It wasn't slammed but it was decent. I didn't mind the ride. My struts were NOT blown. I put well over 10000 miles on it like this and never had a problem.

do you realize that flushness is a product of both wheel fitment and ride height?

moreover, lowering springs will never get you low enough to be "flush" within any sane person's definition of the term

get whatever you want, but at least learn more about what you're aiming for, jeez

I've seen many spring/strut combos that will let me attain the ride height I desire.

everyone goes through the phase of lowering springs and agx's. its cool, super low and sexy fitment isnt for everyone, i suppose. but save yourself the hassle and money and just buy coilovers from the beginning. some cheap coils to get you to the height you want and the spring rate you desire, talk to 240trainee for a set of D2's. Not the best coilovers, by any means, but it'll be fine for what youre after.

yeah dont do what i did waste money on new struts and springs and try out bunch of springs and always ended up changing them getting coils soon thank god... you dont have to go LOW LOW LOW just cause u get coils but u get exactly what u want and also better performance most of the time if u set them up right for track use...
