two things, my works bell hub sticks out. is this normal? if not, then whats wrong? the hub is pushed in as much as possible.

also, there is a gap between my shift knob and shift boot. it didnt come with a finisher (was told they didnt come for my car) and i found a few people who used a ballcock washer to do it. anyone else have any ideas? other wise i'll just have to go to home depot.

you might have the wrong part number for S13s. I think there was a different part number for hicas models and non-hicas.

for your shift boot, just tie a zip tie underneath the boot so that it doesnt slip down.

S14s also have 2 different part numbers:

S14 zenki/kouki base models
S14 kouki SE model

Where in socal are you? I have the base model hub on my kouki SE, and we can compare the difference. does you SRS canceller work?

Aight

There's nothing wrong with his hub

For AUTHENTIC Works Bell hubs:

Standard S13 hub is a #602
Short S13 hub is a #618S

Standard S14 hub is a #625
Short S14 hub is a #629S

There are other models of hubs (for example for a NON airbag S14) but as you know, there was never a non airbag S14 in the USA so that doesn't apply

Since a lot of hubs are often for multiple cars, sometimes the included shroud is meant to clear all those cars, rather than made specifically for the length of the S14. Also, USDM and Japanese cars often differ due to airbag setups, so sometimes this changes how the steering column shrouds are set up

Either way, he has the correct hub for S14

If anyone has ever purchased an AUTHENTIC Works Bell product and run into not having a long enough hub shroud, you are more than welcome to contact A Spec and we will exchange your shroud at no cost (if you are local come down, if you are out of state you would just pay shipping)

If you get a longer shroud typically you just cut it down with a razor blade (trim to fit)...if you look at the hub shroud there are little ridges, which we refer to as "mountains"....so you count the number of mountains and that's how we would identify hub shroud length

Since the hub functions properly and the shroud is merely a cosmetic part, it is not covered as a warranty or defect

Hope that clears it up

questions answered. thanks to logan @ aspec and ray @ westco nissan.

WORKS BELL HUB - it's normal. the hub is universally designed for other cars so the shroud might be too short. all i have to do is buy a shroud that'll be big enough to cover the gap.

oh and this setup (standard works bell hub, fet qr, deep corn steerwheel) is too close for comfort. so IM STILL LOOKING FOR A WORKS BELL SHORT HUB!! if anyone has one please please sell it to me.

and as for the NISMO SHIFT KNOB - for s13, s14, z32, and others i dont remember, these shift knobs DONT come with the finisher. other people have made their own with a ballcock rubber piece thats used for toilets but when i saw it, it just didnt work for me. instead, i bought a 1/2" and a 5/8" rubber grommet and put these onto the shifter underneath the boot and that held up the boot to be flush with the shifter. i might post pics later if someone wants to see.

thread done.

.

Yes, my apologies to those who are searching for Works Bell S14 Short Hubs

We are currently out of stock, and will be getting more on the next Works Bell shipment from Japan

As you can imagine though, due to the state of the economy and the knockoff companies, it makes it harder to do stocking orders frequently

We try our best to forecast and stock proper amounts, but sometimes just due to timing it's out of stock when you need it (so that's why I tell people don't sleeeeeeep!)

Did you rip out that spirely thingy?

If you did well it wasn't needed. That's the thing for your airbag stuff and how your cancel it.

indicator? as in turn signal? if so then yes.
Do your work with that stuff out?

Yeah the thing with the yellow and black warnings you don't need to take out

If anyone has questions on how to install their Works Bell items hit me up and I'll help

And nope, I ain't telling you how to install any KNOCKOFF products haha

yea i did rip it out. ONLY because when i was installing my first hub, come to know it the thing was completely cut. so my airbag and horn never worked. so i just decided to rip it out. otherwise i would have kept it in
