hey guys i'm new here i'm 18, and just planning on get a 240sx during i'm in the air force and getting a sr20det and all , i'm liking the 97 and 98 because of the newer headlights but is there anything different, i have a 95 civic ex coupe 5speed, right now which is a nice car, but i want to have a good handling and nice powerful engine in a couble years , also is there any good stock suspension that comes with the 240sx, like the civic i have has double wish bone suspension, i heard the 240sx can be made a good handling car, but i just think it would be a good all around car, i was thinking 2gen mr2 like my friends but i don't think i would like working on the mid engine alot, but anyway thanks guys for checking this out, later
also like to see pics or homepages if you have pics of your 95-98 240sx thanks

Yea, as far as the car mechanics go... theya re exactly the same... down to the tires...

the only diference in those 2 cars is the front headlight, bumper, hood, fenders, and grill... I have a 95... you can see my car on my sig...

The very early '95s had the first version of OBDII. The difference probably isn't too big... I'm missing a lot of "stuff" on top of my intake runners that later '95+ cars have, and my main O2 sensor is about half the price as the later ones.... other than that they're fairly similar.

The interior trim on '97+ cars was also slightly different. Their seats and dash have some minor updates in the molding and such. I also don't think side skirts came on the '95-96 models, so that might also be something to consider....

To clarfiy on the interior statement...

The difference in 97-98 (USDM, don't confuse with Canadian models) is the re-introduction of the LE model.. This model had three different leather color choices (black (like 95-96), tan, and titanium (light gray)... The only ACTUAL interior differences, is the gauge cluster (4 smalled round circles instead of overlapping ovals, but otherwise the same thing), and instead of having flat blank switch covers on the center console, (where the heated seat switch goes in euro-spec models.. bastards...) there are two coin holders (haha very tiny detail..) both of 'em hold 2 bucks in quarters tho haha. .

so uhm.. yup...

SAME EXACT CAR.. there's nothing different mechanically (nothing major at least) . . .driving my S14 is like driving my S13, only it handles crappier (but TOTALLY acceptably) and is way more comfortable and a bit more up-scale. *shrug*

sorry. . my .02...

hehe

'95 is the lightest of the S14s and surprisingly, the '96 is the heaviest. I forgot why.

Because statistically speaking, the people that drive 96s are all obese.

It's very comfortable. Not up as high as an S2k (which is damn nice)...

But, not on the floor either, like you'd have in a Civic or Integra... (I can't even see the knob when I'm driving one of these. . haha I have to actually reach down to get at it.

It's a pretty comfortable seating position...

Makes driving my mom's Altima feel like a minivan.

I like the 95's the best.....they are easy to find and I have one.

Well I HAD one (looks wise).....but because of an accident I changed the front end to the 97/98 look. Now I have the side skirts and saving up for the JDM front and rear bumper. But I still think the 97/98 taillights are ugly....JUST MY OPINION. :D

And the small insignificant difference in the molding on the seats....

aside from the OBDII v1 vs. v2.... which I believe is one reason JWT doesn't do ECU tuning for '97+ 240sx's and you have to get an earlier ECU (I should ask my friend about this to make sure.... he's got a '97 and a JWT ECU).

Compare the weights for '95 and '96. Who knows, maybe I read it wrong.

If I remember right, 95 S14 weighs 2760 while the 96 weighs something like 2860... '97 and '98 is 2800 I think.

S13 hatch is around 2730 and S13 coupe is 2700.
