alright guys, i need some help asap. my search didnt fulfill my needs. none of those threads were directly related to my problem.

its a 1992 nissan 240, auto ecu, ka24de

i hop in the car, try to start it but only the check engine light and the brake light is on and when i turn to start, doesnt crank.

it eventually blows the relay. i have been told it may be the ignition solenoid/switch. i will be using my multimeter to figure out if thats the problem. but just in case that doesnt show signs of failure, do you guys have any idea what this problem may have been caused by?

all help is appreciated. thanks.

which relay are you blowing? there is an ignition switch but not an ignition solenoid. anyway, if we knew which relay is being blown that would help. by relay do you mean fuse, btw?

its in the fuse box near the battery. the 30a in the "ign sw" position. yea it may be a fuse, my mistake. its the green one with a clear top where you can see through and tell if the fuse is blown.

when in the on position, everything is the way its supposed to be, but when i try to crank it, all that would happen is the check engine light, brake light, seatbelt light, speedometer(hud) goes dim.

doesnt even crank. thanks for your help man.

this seems to happen quite often. i forget what is actually blowing the fuse. you probably meant to say starter solenoid or ignition swtich might be the problem. something is shorting out. have you done any work on the car where you could have cut a wire etc? your ignition switch fusible link is blowing. power goes from battery through that fuse to the ignition switch. the ignition switch sends power to starter momentarily when you turn key all the way. I assume the fuse blows when you try to start ie send power to starter solenoid?

I guess you could unplug the wire going to the starter and see if it stops blowing. those fusible links are expensive though.

there are resetable fuses and i think some other method of testing this without blowing fusible links everytime you experiment. i have never had a short and never have had experience chasing them down.

this is the ignition wire plug youd disconnect

resetable fuses? where can i find this?

no cut wires from what i know. i did get this car used though.

i actually blew 3 of these fusible links. i try it about 10 times and it shorts. not back to back attempts though

i appreciate all your help guys. i wanna get my car started.

solved the problem. it was the starter. i also replaced my battery cables and gave it a better ground.
