They are illegal.

I think there is a DOT code saying that exhaust pipes cant extend past a certain distance beyond your bumper. Its an old code from the hot rodding era....

It also crosses over in to the all-inclusive "no modified exhaust" code....

And besides, do you need more attention to your car? And people are gonna stick things in your exhaust....
