Okay had my 240 for about 5 years now, and only have 110K KMS on it, i think it might be time to change the fuel filter next time i do an oil change.
Where is it? and is there any precautions or special procedures to follow when changing the fuel filter.....
like i said don't laugh :-P
I'm a virgin fuel filter changer!

in a bracket right next to the passenger side front strut tower, u should see it, with the fuel line leaving the top.
theres a how-to on 240sx.org in the faq section if u need it.
http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/fuel_filter_replacement.htm
if u have ne other questions IM me of just go ahead and ask, also try a search there should be some info on the boards here also.

good, i thought it was somewhere under the car near the rear tires......i would have been looking for a long time back there...hahaha
Anyways, 240sx.org wsa the first place i looked but the bandwidth was exceeded, so i came here....
Thanks for the info
Just one more q, how often should the fuel filter be replaced??
Thanks again

-Make sure the motor is pretty cool
- relieve fuel pressure , this is done by removing the fuse for the fuel pump, this is in the fuse box near the battery and then starting the car and allowing it to die.
-then loosen the clamps on the fuel filter, remove the top hose and then access the lower hose. This may be difficult and if excess fuel line is present, u may snip a small piece from the ends for a better join when replacin with a new filter. U can use a 240sx fuel filter or a z32 one, either one works, the z32 one is actually cheaper and will last longer (larger filter surface).
-put in new fuel filter (make sure u got the flow direction right for the filter) and reattach lines. make sure u attach tight but do not crush the areas on the fuel filter tht u are attachin it to.
-put the fuel pump fuse back
-start the car up and ur good, it will crank a lil and start up.
precautions, some fuel spray can still occur, just make sure ur engine is cool
this can be done every 10-15k or a little more, its a cheap item, ~$10 and is worth it.
hope that helps

its surprisingly easy.. and yea get a Z32 filter, it only cost me about $5 when i replaced it earlier this year. "hardest" part was pullin the hoses off of the old filter

Make sure you unscrew your gas cap too! To releave some pressure. When I got my first hose off, I filled a 20oz bottle of gas that came out
Easy job though. Just take yoru time on those stubborn hoses and twist them. Do not use pliers! It is tempting, but very very bad for the hoses.

n/a and tt 90+ 300zx's use the same fuel filter. i have one on my 240sx as well. ;)
misnomer

Yeah, just ask for a fuel filter for a '93 300zx TT. It will clamp right in, should work great.
I had a helluva time replacing the filter on my dad's pickup (d21 hardbody). The lower pipe out of the filter has a 90 degree bend in it, I couldn't twist it much at all. Finally after a day and a half of cursing it came of, slapped on the new one, and the b*tch wouldn't run past idle. Took an hour of idling to soak through that cheap filter enough to run the truck again. Last time I get a filter from Fram :P

How long is it supposed to take to die? I left my car on for a couple minutes and it was still running. Maybe my car is ultimate and won't go down easy.;)

Well Guys i just did it, was super easy. Took out the fuse, and started her up, she died right away, and changed the filter (took some wrestling to get the hoses off) and put on a 300zx one, started her up and away she went, thanks guys!!!!

Don't know if the old one was clogged or not, threw it away, i figured after 110,000 Kilometers, it was time for a new one.

Yup I'm positive. I was getting suspicious myself so i looked on the fuse box to make sure i pulled out the right one. I even gave it gas and the sucker didn't die. It was sounding like it was going to go out, but it just never did.
