I'm trying to decide between the kyb gr2 or the tokico hp. Does anyone have experience with these on the stock springs? Which would work better for auto-x and daily driving?
Thanks in advance,

I have the GR2's now. They are adequate for the street but for competive auto-x you would be better off going with the agx. I am upgrading to JIC FLT-A2's this summer. The GR-2's are basically oem replacements so don't expect huge performance gains over stock (unless your stock ones are blown like mine were :p )

sorry to hijack your post! but I'm on my 2nd 240 and and just about to purchase suspension..I'm planning to go with the AGX/intrax setup because I like the intrax springs on the 240's I've rode in with Intrax...I simply don't need adjustability cause I'll never mess with it! My last car I had tokico HP and blitz springs and I loved it...from what I've seen (limited), intrax were pretty close setup. So my question is :o , how have you liked you intrax's? Do you happen to know the progressive spring rates? I've had no luck finding it from anyone (including intrax or tirerack)...just get the simple "about 30% stiffer"answer. I f anyone's had bad experiences with intrax...let me know cause I'll spring for some coilovers! Thanks

I have tokico shocks and springs on my car, tremendous difference. As it's been said, GR-2s are essentially an oem replacement shock. Tokico HPs are the next step up, being markedly stiffer. Up from that are KYB's adjustibles.

Thanks for the replies. I may look into the hp tokico's instead. I plan on staying with stock springs for now, and my stock struts are 13 year old one's that I'm pretty sure are shot, as the dust-boots are torn and the shaft is exposed, which brings me to my next question:
Did anyone have to replace the boots? If so, did you fork over the $$$ for the stock ones, are are there some generics I can use instead?
Thanks again,

I've bought the strut boots for 10$ each both times i've installed struts...i beleive they were made by kyb but not sure...the same one's tirerack sells...to be honest I'd buy em again, but each time they've split or come off where they "zip tie" exposing the shaft! Don't know particularly how this effects the life of the strut? But I can tell you they've never stayed as installed!
