headlight troubles.

so my headlights only work when the feel like working.

i turn them on and i get nothing. i turn them on/off and hit the highs a few times and the left one will come on. and then while driving the right one will turn on and off randomly, and the left one will turn on and off randomly too.

so far its managed to leave one light on at any given time so im not totally blind.

the brights are the same. one minute they do nothing. the next the left one works. the next the left one doesnt work and the right one doesnt.

im not rubbing through the fender harnesses so i know its not that messing with the works. any ideas?

the only thing i could think of is wiring issues. either loose or fried or just fucked up in general. a plug might not be in all the way. or something may be interfering with wires.

im still having this problem. and i really have no idea what could be at fault or even what to look for to fix it.

any ideas?

im getting to the point where im about to ghetto rig the headlights to a switch and hope that fixes it.

if thats your S13 your tires are probably rubbing through the wire harness in the fender wells

yes could be very true. I have a friend that his harness is rubbed therw and his light will go off at anytime and then come back on when they want.

im not rubbing through the fender harnesses so i know its not that messing with the works. any ideas?

problem has happened since i first drove the car on 15's. fender harnesses are relocated and ive checked them already, all intact.

id check it again, that happened to my car.. not so much them cutting in and out. but just not turning on at all.

and my windshield wipers would just go crazy for like 3 seconds. and then turn off. just randomly.
i took my fender off. had to cut all my wires. i sodered them, and heat srunk everything. and put a new loom on it. and zip tied the shit out of it.
but if your getting power, and they keep turning off. your just having a ground issue it sounds like.. because your getting power obviously.
.you just need to trace the wires back and make sure nothing is grounding out

i took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts. both headlights and brights work. cool.
reconnected the wire the idiot ricer previous owner cut and now they go up and down like normal. cool.

see, wasnt the fender harness. im not an idiot. the first thing i did when i got the car was relocate it.

i assume the headlights should go up on their own when i turn them on? and then down when i turn them off? they dont. have to press the buttan. but thats not a big deal.
