My coolant bleeder bolt snapped, then fell into the waterneck on the IM as I was trying to get it out. I put another bolt in, thatone snapped too @ 4ft/lbs. So im going to seal off the hole, but my question is;

What possible damage could the remaining stud in the IM water neck do? Judging from the flow of coolant, it should land in the radiator.

Removing the manifold isnt possible at the moment.

Huh? Its inside the intake manifold?? How did it get over there? If its in the waternect just take the hose off and get a magnet stick and fish it out.

The bolt actually is hanging on by a thread, below the other stripped bolt. I tried a drill and easy out. I just ended up grinding the stud down and JBwelding it shut.

Fuck! Went to bleed the coolant, and the temps hit 203F+, and the thermostat didnt open now. Could this be where it landed?

When I squease the lower rad hose with the engine off, I can hear a tiny metalic jiggle somewhere inside the thermostat housing. Almost like a little bead, or tiny marbles. I had to put a pipe up to the housing to hear it, is that normal?

no its not normal. Just take off the housing and thermo and take it out.

Are you sure its not the jiggle valve? it only jiggles when the rad cap is off. I gotta source some more coolant before I remove it.

Never over torque any bolts. Use WD40 and or PB blaster before even putting a wrench or socket on any nut or bolt. Spray it on, leave it for a few seconds, then work on it.

That is my rule. You should do the same next time.

How do you snap 2 bolts at one sitting?

Anyway, there can be many possibilities that will harm your coolant system. The bolt can be picked up and distributed in various holes and plug them up. Or it will find a spot and sit there and may not do anything for a while.

Or It may be caught in the Water pump propellers. Who knows.

On your engine block, there is a coolant bleeder bolt. Bleed the engine coolant and God damn pray that the nut or bolt is flushed out. If it doesn't...or well, continue with your car and hope nothing happens. PUT a garden hose to the upper radiator spot on the engine, and try to flush it out. That is all you can do to be honest.

How is it possible to have dropped the bleeder bolt in the Manifold? You make no sense.
If you snapped the bleeder, it fell into the upper radiator hose spout, it will go in, hit the Thermostat and or past it and go into the engine block.

What the f***K is a Jiggle valve?

the bleeder bolt??? just take off the neck, and hopefully it will still be rite there.:snoop:

What the f***K is a Jiggle valve?

KA24de jiggle valve is clearly in the FSM. I put 4lbs of torque on the bolt, it snapped. There was enough of a hole there to insert another bolt, to hopefully push the remaining stud into the IM. Well as I was doing that, im not sure how far I had left to go before the stud would pop out into the IM water neck, and suddenly the other bolt snapped.

THen I spent hours of drilling and sawing. I can only assume that the 1st stud will either drop from the expanding of aluminum, or WILL drop.

I dont know how deep that bleeder hole goes with threads, but assuming the 1st snapped bolt is hanging on by a single thread.

I had a bitch of a time bleeding it, the thermostat doesnt want to open now, I assume thats air right?

the bollt broke n you put another one in to force it out! Wow! On top of that you drop the bolt head in the spout. Not very smart.

next time drill with easy out bolt extractor. Do it right the first time, take your time

Didnt drop the head, its the stud that either fell through, or is about to;

And the bolt stud would turn freely deep inside the hole, so I couldnt get a drill inthere without ruining the threads - therefor I decided to use another grade 7 m6 bolt to maybe force it through..

I used an easy out on the 2nd stud, and it snapped the ez-out.

true, those ez outs are p.o.s. Dont think that the lil piece would do much damage.
