hey there.... i'm new to the whole 240sx thing as of yesterday when i purchased mine... main reason for buying was i had a old supra before and wasn't pleased with weight/ and lack of options for it..... but anyways... i have the coupe version (i think thats the right terminology) as in it is not a hatchback.. it is a 1989... so i was wondering if there was any differences between the coupes and hatchbacks of the same year... like if i buy a catback exhaust for my car off the net and it says it will fight an 89-93 240sx... will it still fit my coupe style body? i'm just checkin this kind of stuff befroe i get right into it and screw myself over.. thanks in advacne for any help

Basic maint. stuff like; engine, tranny and, differential oil, spark plugs and wires along with distro cap and rotor, air filter, fuel filter, etc...More expensive things like new brake pads, rotors, brake fluid, brake lines and high quality tires are a good next step.

That'll get your car running in good shape and get you used to working on it...thus starting your very own 240sx love affair

After that, intake, exhaust, sway bars, strut tower braces, springs, and shocks are common and not too expensive first upgrades.

i was wondering though........ what would it take to get 5 lugs on my car? like where can i get the parts? is it really expensive?

everybody asks themselves the "how" question of things.........but few people ever ask the "why."

which leads me to...................why do you want 5 lug hubs in the first place?

i want 5 lugs cause the rim selection is much more diverse with that kind of bolt pattern

excellent answer. good you know what you want

s13 5 lug conversion:

front:
s14 hubs spindles
lca (Lower control arm) w/ s14 ball joint
redrilled s13 rotors to 5x114.3 lug pattern
need to drill i believe top shock bolt for s14 bolt size. (make the hole larger)

OR
z32 front brakes
z32 rotors
s13 hardline, z32 caliper side brake lines
might as well go 5 lug w/ the z32 brake swap (z32=300zx)

rear:
z32 NA hubs
bolt in job
redrill rear rotors

i think that's it....

The FAQ section has a more complete writeup, I suggest looking there.

No need to redrill S13 rotors... use S14 rotors. '95-'96 non-ABS are the same size as S13 non-ABS, '95-'96 w/ABS or any '97-'98 are the same as S13 w/ABS.

But yeah if you're buying new rotors, might as well buy Z32 rotors and calipers.

Also make sure to use S13 LCAs with S14 balljoints... S14 LCAs are the wrong size.
