About 5 months ago I purchased wheels of a company a few hours away from me in Alberta. Then I started getting excuses from Adam(the seller) for at least two months saying that one wheels was damaged and then he sent them to my house but it was denied 2 times. Eventually on a local forum, where the seller is a sponsor, a member started a thread saying that Adam has been taking months to get him parts too and hes heard all kinds of excuses. Then a bunch of members from the forum spoke up and Adam has been dicking around with numerous members parts and money. So Adam read this forum and obviously knew his business was ruined as most of his sales was from this forum and he started ignoring everyone. Also at this time I asked him for a total refund for the wheels. This was about a month and a half ago at least and I have not heard from him and he still has my money. His website for the business is even deleted. I have tried to contact him numerous times and its impossible. I even sent a file to The Better Business Bureau and they were supposed to get back to me in the max a month and they still havnt! I dont know what to do legally! I want my money.
Any ideas on what to do would be very appreciated. Thanks.

1. Zilvia is not a legal forum. If you need legal advice, hire a lawyer. That would be the soundest advice I can give you for any legal problem, car related or not.
2. You got scammed. It happens. The best way to protect yourself is to buy from trusted sellers (in person, if possible) and be meticulous in record keeping. Maintain a paper trail. It's too late for that now, but for the future, you've been warned. Get scammed again and its your own damn fault. We will assume this is your first time until contradicted.
3. Knowledge is your friend. Gather info on the seller, gather info on the small claims court process in your area. Do some leg work.
4. Count your losses. Fighting scammers takes money and time. If you aren't prepared to put in the effort, write off the loss as a lesson and move on.
5. If you paid by credit card, get the CC company involved. If you paid by paypal, get them involved (good luck with that though). If you paid by cash...you'll probably never see your money again.
Zilvia is not a grievance forum, people might offer help if possible, but it might not be possible. It says you're 18. Hopefully this wasn't too much money and you don't get scammed again.

Yes this is my first time. I already tried paypal and nothing happened there. I will get my credit card company involved hopefully that resolves something.
And yes I am 18 and did learn a lesson. But buying things online there isn't much of a paper trail.
I understand this is not a legal form I just thought as one last chance of getting my refund that I would see if anyone had any suggestions.
Thanks though.

Have you contacted the Police?
You could try contacting them and showing that this int the 1st time hes done this.
They might have bigger and better things to take care of, but you could always try.

I am quite certain that the police will not get involved unless there was violence that happened. It's probably just a couple hundred bucks in car parts between some kids.

Well actually It was around a grand for some shitty wheels.
And he ran the business and he sponsored our local forum here and he screwed over a few of us members.

You could always just try.
I mean, it doesn't hurt to try.

If you contact your credit card company and said you never received your item they WILL refund you your amount.

the police have never been able to help before. someone broke into my house and they wouldn't even send someone to take prints. they are the biggest laziest people(which is why i am trying to get a job at the local sheriff dept) . if you want to get something done, you have to do it yourself, but be prepared to fall on your face...

Yeah I am going to contact my credit card company. It has been a while since I paid though. We will see what happens.

LOL. Isnt it funny how when you need the Police they're not there.
But when you honestly don't want them there, they come!
Blows my mind.
Hope everything goes well!

Even more funny that people also bitch about how the government is too intrusive.
This can be solved without the police through the credit card company.
Does that blow your mind?
