Drift? Grip? DD?

I love BFG GForce Sport for DD. They stick, last a decent time and shed water like a monsoon is a sprinkle.

I also love the gForce Sports from BFG for daily. Great tires. Take corners very nicely, and I'm not talking sideways.

to drift well it needs to grip well.

My setup consists of

Hankook RS2 up front.
Federal 595 in the rear.

however with the economy i've had to downgrade even more to nankangs in the rear. Haven't tried it yet. well see haha

why are all the shops i call pushing so much the 595s, the shops say they're the best bang for the buck but are the BFGs or falkens that much better? or is it more so the name

These rock socks! Yokohama (http://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/advan_a048.aspx)

These are amazing! Falken Tire (http://www.falkentire.com/#/Tires/Motorsports/RT-615)

These are GOD like! Nitto Tire - High Performance Tires for Car and Truck Enthusiasts (http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Ent01)

I had the Falken azenis for dd and they grip really really well! They aren't as bad In the rain as everyone says.. I've never hydro plained with them.

The Advans are Great but not for dd. They will wear quickly Especially with Spirited driving.

The nitto's well I mean cmon.. By far more grip than both of these tires. Rain Isn't so good. Really hard to break them loose. I would put them In front.

G force sports are good. I had a set of toyo proxes 4's that REALLY impressed me a few years ago too. Shops push the feddy's because they are cheap and decent. From the sound of it you would be fine with feddy's.

I run Falken 615s and love them, don't wear too fast, excellent grip, favorable wet traction
And if it helps any, I run the exact sizes you asked for

Edit: The Falken 452s were the ones I had that were awesome in the rain, with considerable dry grip

yoko s-drives are nice. they grip well and stretch nicely. ive heard complaints about rolling noise, but seems fine to me.

I run these too, I really like em.. I thought about the 595RS's but decided to go with the track proven.

I can't say that they are 'awesome' in wet traction but not as bad as the reviews state, put it this way.. I wouldn't be scared to drive with them in the rain.

You just answered your own question. 595 are great tires because of their price and ratings. But if your complaining about your tire life, my question is, whens the last time you got it aligned? Most 240 would go thru tires because of bad alignment more than crappy tires.

Personally, for DD, Id get 595 too. But if your gonna do some grip, then RT615s or 595RS-R. But remember, stickier the tires, the faster they shred due to softer compound. Those are my recommendations because of their price...cheeeaaaaap. While the later 2 cost about the same.

Yah true...but it would still pain me to daily 2 tires that has a thread rating of less than 100. :smash:

Well heres the thing, the 595RS-Rs, Federal stated that they designed these tires to be up-par with the AD07s, how good are they compared to AD07s? I doubt theyre up-par but how close are they???

Figured the RS-R would be next set of tires when I get back to Oki...

one thing you have to remember when buying a tire..
TIRE SHOPS WILL PUSH THE TIRE THAT THEY CAN MAKE THE MOST $$ ON.
this is true 99% of the time.

BFG g force kdwII is my tire of choice for the daily driving in dry/rainy conditions.

For the zilvians in cold climates that have snow and stuff, bridgestone blizzak ws-60. Ran them last winter.. And did not slip, slide, or anything all winter.

Which tires do I like?

free used tires. If I have to buy new, I like Bridgestone/Firestone tires... They always balance out very well.

the RSR feddies are great
but i still prefer drifting on the AD07s by a milllion percent more
but since i cant afford them on the back always, i stick w/ the dz101s when i can

I'm in need of new tires myself. anyone tried the Toyo Proxes T1Rs? RA1s?

I'll mostly be using the car for weekend drift events and probably switch out the rears for some cheaper tires and run the proxes up front. other than that maybe occasionally take the car to a grip event or just out for an afternoon drive on the weekend.

RA1s seem decent prices for the treadwear rating. pretty grippy.

but I keep thinking maybe im better off going with RT615s, good price and decent treadwear rating...

Nankangs smoke nice:D

Unfortunately, they suck because they never balance out quite right. But they're grippy as fuck, and wear nicely... but noisy as an 18-wheeler.

I prefer 595 SS over BFG gforce sport. More grip, and are quieter.

595 RSR over RT615 More grip and more consistent

Toyo T1R's and 595SS/RSR are great.

Nexxen's rock too, they don't like to die.

If you are going for some serious shit, get your hands on some of them Maxxis tires :D

I personally think the HTRZIII (not the II or I) are the BEST tire you can get for the money. They grip as well as the RE050 at about half the price. They grip in the rain, and have a 300 treadwear.

Can not got wrong with the HTRZIIIs.

I'm running these on my S2000 right now and I have gotten other people hooked on these.

I can get you any tire you like, let me know.

i kinda like how well my direzza Z1 grip... and i like how the DZ101 and 595SS don't chunk.... for some odd reason I feel like my FM901s feel just like the 595ss. I really like how comfortable and quite the SP Sport Maxx are. They don't chunk either...

Boo they don't even carry the RSR's in Canada. I was running the RS's front and rear for drift. Was not a good tire for up front really wasn't that grippy and created understeer city. Now in the rear they are a different story really liked them. They were cheap, smoked well enough, and didn't chunk plus they lasted a long time.

I will definately not cheap out on front tires this year!!!

I have BFG GForce Sport and I <3 them.

Tires I had in the past were all-season, so its not really comparable to what I have now (or most of the posts in this thread).

i live in florida and i had BFG KDW2's on my daily. they're great tires in the wet. they're resistant to hydroplaning, and have pretty good grip in the dry (for having a 300 treadwear rating). they dont grip for shit when they're cold though.

on the plus-side, they lasted almost 30,000 miles, which was a lot better than i was expecting with a whack-ass alignment, and some pretty spirited driving.

I've just bought myself some nice Falken FK452s. They're easily the most popular tyres amongst us UK guys. People report similar (sometimes better) performance than F1s, but a lot cheaper. Even on track.

i run 615 also but its mostly dry here
for drift i leave the 615s up front and sum used tires in the rear

I run re01rs all around for autocross (sts). I like falken 615s too, a bit cheaper and very responsive but not quite the same grip.

Most expensive to cheapest street tires i've used and I love...
i've used more but I don't want to mention the crap ones...

Advan Neova A07 (amazing wear and they stick)
Yokohama S Drive
Goodyear F1
Bridgestone S02
Azenis (only falken tires i'd ever use, even these aren't that great IMO)

I recently made the switch from Dunlop Direzza to the General Exclaim UHP. The difference was huge! IMO you can't beat the wet/dry traction from the Generals for the price. i've also heard that the 452s are a good value also.

Which Direzza? The DZ101 or the Z1 Star Spec?
