Club 4AG hosted a drift/car-control session today at Irwindale Speedway. Here are some pics I took. A friend of mine has some very short video. I will post those as soon as I get them.

Haha. sorry. You spent so much time at the figure 8 station. Oh well. I was only there for about an hour. There's one with you staging in the picture near the end I think. Has the RB25 S14 behind you.

i wish i can join you all
im sad:(

Was a VERY cool event. Drivers at Drift events seem to be a lot mellower and more down to earth than drivers at grip events. I put on a good show, as usual, of understeer. -_- But it was fun nonetheless. Crap tires make all the difference. :D

Aaron, nice meeting you man. Too bad we didn't get a chance to talk much. Came a little late in the morning. You did pretty good though none the less....although I did see a bit of understeer coming out of some of those drifts. Was the front setup too hard?

I must say that Driftingpanda did a great job as well. He got many of the few claps from the audience in the 2nd course. I too will probably make it to Shine st....we shall talk more then. I think I will try to enter the next drift event when one comes around down in socal. Adey, were you there as well? Is ur avatar your car? Not sure if I saw you there, and I dont think I met you but next time I guess.

BTW: It was pretty damn HOT today!

AHH! that was the beginning of the day!!! :(
i was getting used to:

new coilvoer (stiffer setup on springs)
nardi 360 mm wheel
30 mm spacers and 4 degrees neg camber
-2 neg in rear
1/8 toe in on front.

ask drifting panda about the last run of the day
ask adey about his time in my car

that advanced course (my favorite one), i came in the 1st corner about 60mph, feinted and linked all corners on one drift hahaha....vrey very little ebrake, only used when rear sticked, NOT to initiate or create a wider drift. i got used to my car's setup around 12ish. felt GOOOOOOOOD. i'm so pleased w/ the performance of it. going to work on the rears more and see how it goes.

crap tires SUCK
Fm901s all around ownz joooooooooooooo! i love them. dunlop. please sponsor me hahaha..

glad to meet everyone there! I HAD A GREAT TIME. cant wait to practice more and hit the track and competitions. toso (aaron in the z32tt) had a lot o fpics so i'll post those when he upload them!!!!

ahhh that was... orgasmic. i learned a lot at DD4 and i hope to go to DD5 and learn even more! it was wierd... i did a lot better like the first three runs on the 2nd course, took a break then went back and didnt do as well. i definately need more camber, tires rolled onto the sidewall major big-time. time for some tarmac NRCAs!

i hope next time i can bring my s13. looks like you ka/sr guys had plenty of power to get all the way through the 2nd course, while us 4ag powered (and some 4ac?!) guys were strugling! bogging out before the end. much props to dan (black 180 with gold mesh) he was doing great and Aaron (dousan) you guys rock! and everyone else that was doing great... awsome to watch. and charlie... well he is definately in DRIFTHEAVEN. skills. wish i could have talked to more of you guys but i was trying to get as much track time as possible... i need the practice! heheh. janet... we should start a zilvia donation fund and get you an LSD!! come out and play with us next time!!

to all those i do not know, the attitude at the event was awsome. very little ignorance and i didnt see one collision. good job and lets keep that attitude at other events!
and much thanks to the event staff. it was a great experience and taka's on-track instruction was very helpful to us. as soon as club4ag's boards go back up (anyone else heaving probs getting to them?), i want to post a huge thanks to moto and all staff. ahh i still have drift after-glow. heheheh. cool pics. anyone else got any? maybe some with me in them? mwahahaha! oh, its the red trueno hatch with C/F hood and black mesh on front. anyone get pics of the slide squad 240z?! that thing is baaaaad aaaaa$$$$$!

oh yeah and those are longchamp XR-4's. and you gotta love the 75 z flairs. sick.

okay im done. ahhhh that was my first drift day, definately not my last!! mmmm orgasmic!

Just want to join the crowd in appreciation to DD4. Must agree w/ Aaron(dousan) on the MF 901's..... I got those cheap and they wer Grrrrrrreat! I couldn't express how much I loved the tires. With that said, I didn't do as good as I wanted to. But, like all the events I've gone, GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE. BTW, 300zx can't really drift that well, but the power on that thing was amazing. Thanx again Aaron(Toso).

I gotta say I had a blast also. Too bad I was the only SW20 out there. :( MR2s are not the best platform for drifting but I don't care. I was having too much fun! Mostly spins, but a couple of times I was able to get the J-turn correctly.

Can't wait to do one of these events with my S13. It should be arriving in about 2 weeks.

Shinchu: Sorry I didn't get back to you. Hope your car started up ok.

Any time man! I had a great time. The Z was a bitch to drift. I spent all day on the slalom just trying to learn the car a bit better. Hopefully I'll do better next time.

fun stuff!! i learned so much on dd4, and got to meet a few neat people as well! i really wish club4ag would organize more driftdays, it's so much fun!

kanekz: i didn't think that i did that well, but i must say i was really surprised that i even got the tail out, it was my first drift event! thank you for the kind words.

dousan: you rocked that last run of the day! nice great big feint and smoooooth transition to the right hander! good stuff man... people should sponsor you... ;)

adey: you improved a lot man! i'm glad you found the light with the crap tires. dousan is in denial, crap tires rule. itsybitsy and i were cheering in my car when you got sideways on the skidpad... keep it up! full under is under no more...

shinchu: it was nice meeting you! thanks for the kind words as well! i didn't catch you drifting out there, i was too busy eating my own tire dust. i hope you had fun! i too agree we need to stat a fund for itsybitsy... we need more dori girls!

toso: hahaha... a drifting 300z! hahaha... i was so impressed at how much you improved in just one day! that car must be a handful! yes, aaron is a knob.

it was great seeing everyone out there! especially all the beginners (like me). i think it's great that so many people are striving to learn. this event was such a blast. thanks to all that introduced themselves! hope to see you all at the next event!

happy internet-drifting,
danny

edit: forgot to thank adey's buddy and toso for letting me borrow the helmets! i kept the a/c on all day and took it off between runs to keep myself from sweating... i hope i didn't stink them up too much! thank you toso! and adey please thank your friend for me! must save some money to get my own...

i, too, enjoyed dd4 very VERY much. i didn't drive cause everytime i decided that i was going to, i felt so nervous that i thought i was going to puke. haha. it's really intimidating okay?? you guys are all boys with modded cars, and then there's me with my bone stock little s13. anyway, danny (driftingpanda) did so well. he rocked my socks!! thanks so much for explaining everything to me. i learned so much from just sitting in the car with you and figuring out your footworks.

shinchu180sx: lsd fund for me? hahahah. it was good to finally meet you! and i'm glad that you're bubbling oil problem went away.

equinox: sw20? the white one? dang man, what tires were you running? all i saw was smoke coming from wherever you were. ;) cute car!

dousan: nice job on your last run of the day man! i got it on tape too. tell the other aaron to upload it already!!

adey: YAY! no more Full Under!! i liked your car the BEST out there. haha you should've gotten a "Best in Show" award. zip ties=saviour.

toso: your car is a beast. it's cool though. props to you for learning to handle it the way you did. and yes, dousan is a nipplehead!!

if anyone's interested in selling a vlsd, please let me know.

i guess i'll see everyone at the shine street meet. i'll be the one with the stock maroon s13 with silver (soon to be black) mesh.

i had fun (more post)
but next time i need to go faster. 65 mph feinting was fun. but i want to try 3rd gear. too bad it wasnt a 2 day event, i'd try that today. oh well. nexttime

love the new nardi though. freaking sweet.

nyjee it was fun driving yoru s14, can feel the VLSD action on it too, and that B&M is SHORT. i like the long throw of mine. might get the nismo solid shifter. hehe..anyways.
time to sleep. dream of drifting i hope. gotta visualize 3rd gera around 80mph hmmm

I have no idea what kind of tires those were. I borrowed them from another mr2 owner. They did put up a lot of smoke though. When I was stopped waiting in line, smoke was seeping into the cabin through the rear interior panels. I thought my engine had caught fire!

hahaha yeah i ordered bubble TEA! not bubble OIL!!! hahahaa!

hey driftingpanda, if you can scrounge up $100 you can get a helmet like mine. its a VEGA i got it at Dave Turner Motorsports in san diego. great helmet. open face, some vents, and a spify visor! yeah and the tire dust was insane! i had a couple good mouthfulls when i spun out. haha but yeah man for your first event you OWNED. cant wait to see you in action next time!

equinox, yeah man your smokey burnouts were a hit with the crowd! what tires were those? super speed extra performance or something? Kmart specials or what? hahahahaha yeah man one of your last runs was awsome! got all the way through! thats skills in that MR beast! oh did you see the black... or was it dark blue MR2 that showed up later on? maybe you already left. so yeah that makes TWO mr2's there. heheheh you were not alone. oh yeah and my car started up fine after i waited about 20 min.

Dousan, yeah im feelin ya on some high speed stuff. i would need a runway to get my 86 up to 80 though! hahaha but yeah 3rd gear would be cool then you could shift lock into 2nd and have plenty of power to get through the rest of the course.

adey, what car where you driving? man i wish i could have met more of you guys. cool crowd. very cool.

i wish i could make it to shine street. i wanna see that footage you guys are talking about. maybe we could all meet up some time for some boba and video watching? just an idea. we san diego 4ag guys do it all the time. equinox knows whats up with the duck sniper meets. heheh. so are there any good boba shops between irvine and san diego? i'll bring a jar so we can start the itsybitsy LSD fund. heheh. yeah BLACK MESH IS ILL.

Aaron, I know exactly what you are saying about getting into high speed thing. I felt like that too, but w/ all the light poles... Anyways, I still feel the vsld's a bit on the slow side as far as breaking loose. But I have to say I loved the sus(tho w/ MANY prob still need to be resolved) and me new clutch/flywheel. And I still can't express enough how much I am in love w/ the 901's, haha~ Next time I am really gonna bring someone to videotape me, I need to know how I am doing. Anyways, I still think you need a short shifter. You signing up for the 2/22 drift thingy? Richard and I are still pondering whether we should/should not...

email me where to sign up and such. i forgot. cant keep track of this stuff.

we'lll get some vid of you next time..might have gotten some waiting for the other aaron to upload it and we'll see.

i like the long throw, the short is too much for me right now. too notchy i guess..

a solid shifter would be nice like the nismo one, more accurtate. anyways, let me know about the 22nd!!

what are my odds of winning the competition?
one in a million.
so......your telling me there's a chance?

haha..

You've got mail!

Anyways, I just want to do a bit more drifting, I'll give you more info about that at the shine street meet. A friend of mine told me about a place that his friend found.... You'd be surprised why we didn't think about that kinda places earlier, it's so obvious yet we just kinda missed it. OH, BTW, not that I am saying I am a great drifter or anything, nor am I saying I am better drifter than you but you won't stand a chance competing w/ me, hehe~ =P

I was running FM-901s in front, and a pair of GEOSTARs and a pair of Michelin HX4V (whatevers) in the back... total price for 2 new geostars (195/60/15) and 2 used (with 65% tread) michelins... $140 mounted and balanced.

I currently have 1 full set of FM-901s (205/55/15), 3 PAIRS of AVS-i (205/60/15), a pair of Bridgestone Potenza S-02 205/55/16 mounted/balanced, a pair of yokohama AVS-ES100 205/55/16 and the aforementioned geostars and michelins.
So yeah... w00t... I won't be needing tires for a while. ;)

HOWEVER I am in dire need of a new clutch and headlight. I tried touge with only my drivers side headlight...... no... that's just not going to happen. :) Tranny will hold out for a little bit, as long as I don't downshift into 1st too often. heh.

edit: to the white SW20 owner -- there was a black SW20 turbo out there, too. just thought I'd let you know!

shin180sx something... chris. thanks for the compliment... i sucked that day. all the instructors sucked that day... we are
trying some new techinique introduced to us by D1 drivers in japan. a training program that will bring us up to speed...
we are being challenged by D1 japan! i know it's not much of a challenge for them, but they are sharing... and really, thanks to moto for bringing it to us.

SH|T tire rules.... but wait, my SH|T tires are FM901s!
