Try the search function. It is your friend. You can try to talk to some of the guys on here who do have KA-T's. As far as engine modifications go, I wouldn't run anymore that 4psi with stock internals.

umm...people run 7-9 psi w fmu perfectly fine...and with decent engine management i think a couple of people on this board or FA run 14-15 psi no prob 350+ whp on stock internals...all about proper delivery of fuel

i'd highly recomend you talk to someone who has done the kat, and see what parts you'll need. then i'd see how much those parts are. add everything up, check you're wallet. then see if turbo is your alley project. its not like you can buy a turbo manifold, and a turbo and schwap it on... and your finished. turbo is a precision thing, and so i hear... it takes time. time is a viture like some old guy once said... and hes right. if you don't have patience... sending your car to someone else is wise. someone who knows they're way around a blow-off valve. turbo is complicated... follow me.

"first you must get your turbo and manifold. after two parts are gathered... you must connect you turbo to manifold and manifold to motor. then comes the hard stuff. you must cross your "re-pitchulating" valve wires to suply power to you're pressure cooker. soon the pressure cooker will turn on, heating up the power for the turbo to operate. the sizling starts and a whistle comes from your engine bay. the sound is the rice screaming to be released because you're going too fast." a "home-boy" told me this. are you "down" "wit" "dat" "yo"? ;)

in all seriousness though, you really need to talk to someone that has done the whole nine yards. you know what i'd like to see? i'd love to see a 240 with a slightly tunned ka, having nitrous oxide being pushed down the throat of it. someone really need to do so. you should step up to the plate. :D

hey now, don't be rude :P

We need more specifics on what you need to know, your question is too open ended for us to really reply to.

4PSI is about the limit on the stock fuel system, you'll need management to go beyond that.

Definitely search the forums. Spend hours clicking on threads regarding turbocharging. From that alone, I would be confident enough to at least begin turbocharging my car (money permitting).

blah... the DIY thread I had where I was whining had a pretty complete list of the basics of what you need to install a turbo... along with some of the headaches you might encounter.

but, I have a question of the same type. Right now I'm in lingo about whether to go SR or KA-T. Money is a factor but patience is not. I'm building up my car for drift so BIG horsepower is not the goal. My prob is that I have a lot of miles on my 95 s14 but they're all highway miles for the most part. I did a compression test and leakdown test and the motor was great. I actually surprised my regular mechanic w/ the #'s, being as I have around 95,xxx miles on the odo. Should I rebuild or not worry about it at four or five psi or just do the swap. I'm capable enough to do my own work so either KA-T or SR is not a prob for me. My concern is that I don't really know how strong the engine is stock. My car has never had any major probs w/ anything, no smoke or or funny noises besides the cam chain tensioner. What do you think? Anything but a flame is appreciated. I'm already on fire right now from the habeneros that I just gave to the porcelain god.

well.... FWIW, i've got a '95 S14 with 140k miles and I was boosting 6psi fine untill I made a stupid mistake rendering my car useless for a while.... when the car is back up and I've got more mileage on the turbo i'll be able to say more about it.

GO KA!!!
I was gonna tell some stupid ricer story that happned to me the other day, but you get the idea. SR's are over done. And you get an extra .4 litters with a KA and its a hell of alot cheaper than a SR IMO.
