okay, i recently finished the rebuild on my KA, and it seems to have considerable less power now then before it blew.

the rebuild included
new pistons,
new rods,
new rod bearings,
full head job
block line bored
crank ground
new main bearings
full gasket kit
new oil pump/front cover
and all new hardware.

i've broken it properly (dont want to get into a "proper break in" arguement)
and i have a compression of 180+ in all of my cylinders

basically, as soon as it warms up, i have a pretty significant decrease in power.

new spark plugs, new dizzy cap/rotor, could it be spark plug wires?

they arent that old, but i have had a problem with spark plug wires in the past, they were cracked and when the engine warmed up, it would fire through the crack and not to the spark plug.

but it doesnt feel like its running on 3 cylinders, it just feels... a little weak.

im pretty sure i dont have a vaccuum leak, because i only have 4 vacuum hoses, and they are all on tight (PCV, IACV, brake booster and FPR)

any ideas here guys?

and if you think its spark plug wires, what brand do you reccommend (i will never buy bosch wires ever again)

i would say fuel pump or coil.. is it s14 or s13.. s14's are common for having shitty spark...

was it a stock rebuild or what?

its an s13, coupe. it has a walboro 255 in it, and the spark plugs were just replaced 10 miles ago ( no joke.)

full stock rebuild.

oh, and i have 3 different coils. doesnt change anything.

and its got a new power transistor/condenser

Have you replaced your fuel filter?

it could be down to timing, weather is distributor or cam. Check those, if you misaligned the cam timing by a tooth it could affect performance by a lot. Same if the distributor is all the way retarded.

i have a timing light, and am pretty sure its at exactly 20btdc, but i will check again. i might have made an error.

cam timing is 100% on.

i worried my ass off when doing the cam timing, and checked it every step of the way.

when it was done, i also took off the oil pump, just to check one more time.

its correct.

check and recheck, had to have flubbed up somewhere.
