Man, if I bought my car just after getting my license, it would've been only 2 years-old!

Wow to think that somebody that is 26 is one of the oldest people on this board, that is amazing. No wonder we always have immature flame fests.
Oh BTW, in '89 I was in 4th grade or so.

Well, I have one of the very first DOHC's. It's a 91, but I think it was made in 7/90? I'll have to look on the sticker.

Anyways, I was born on 1/84, so I was a bit over 6 years old. I think it was made over the summer, when I was about to go into 2nd grade. I dunno though.

I still remember seeing Z's, 3000GT's and 240sx's when I was a kid and thinking "I want one when I am older!" Granted I was about 5 and and the only reason I liked them was because the looked sporty and they were named after numbers :p
Not my dream car, but now I have one!

Older is better ;) I feel like I'm more patient to learn what should be maintained before modifying my car (or maybe that's just an excuse for me being too broke to do anything?!?! j/k).

My first car was an 89 hatch, and I would have been in Grade 1 when it came out.

My second car was a 95 S14, and I would have been in Grade 8.

My third and current car is a 97 MCS14 and I was in Grade 10 at the time.

hehe, this is pretty cool :)

LOL--I think it's a cool thread, too. It makes ya think a bit--hmmm....in what grade was I in '96? hehe. It's better than the "how old are you now?" thread--even though that was a very populare thread here for a long time. This one's more creative. It's late.........I'm rambling............sorry :(

Thanks MoJo!! I had been depressed about my car and my inability to mod it because of finances--so I was thinking about selling it. But, being back on this board so much (damn--takes me like 2 hours to read the new posts of the day!) has made me realize once again how wonderful my car is--and that what I've learned from owning it should be contributed to the Zilvia community (I've fixed a LOT of stuff on my car and still have some to go). I'm not posting a lot just so I can be a post-whore, though. I like giving my input where it can be helpful and hopefully fun! :D

I'm amazed by how young some of the people on this board are. I mean I'm reading about 16 year olds w/240s who are getting a good start on mods, and I can remember being stuck with a pos Ford TEMPO for my first car!! I bought my 97 from a 17 year old!

Let's see, I was 12 when my 92 coupe came out. And 17 when my 97 was born.

And Lauren, knowing that at 26, a female is interested in cars, makes me feel at ease for when I turn 26.;) I hope you're still loving it when your 40!:D :D

'92 model, I'm guessing late '91 build date, so probably 4th Grade, age 9...back when I could care less about cars and was big into paleantology and zoology (yeah, I was a geek).

I know the feeling. I bought my '96 in '01--bank repo'ed it from a lady in her '30s! But she maintained it horribly, so I've spent quite a bit of time and money on maintenance that was supposed to be spent on mods

I started learning a bit more about cars when I started seeing my bf, who had always had sports cars, and he knows a LOT about them. I didn't listen much because I had crappy cars. But when I bought my S14, I began to remember so much that he had told me, and kept searching for more knowledge. I know so much more now, and the work that's been done on my car has taught me a lot, too. I will always own a sports car, even though it probably won't be my S14 :( (unless I make her a stricly race-car--still haven't decided what I'm gonna do). When I'm 40, I'll hopefully be able to do my own turbo install & everything.

Hehe, I hope I can do engine swaps when I'm 65.:p :D

I've always been into cars thanks to my dad and hanging out with the boys in the neighborhood. While all the other girls were into shopping and flirting with boys when I was a kid, I was hanging out with them playing sports and talking cars. It also helps that my boyfriend and his friends are seriously into cars, there's always someone I can turn to for help!

FUNK THAT! When I'm 40 I want my GT2 Porsche (as in SCCA class) to be serviced by a race shop and my street car to be serviced by a dealer. If it breaks at the track and I can't fix it, I drop the trailer off at the shop on my way home. When the day comes that I don't have to turn all my own wrenches, I won't! :D
