good video, easy to watch...BUT i think the music choices were garbage...the batman theme in the beginning was dope, but i wish it woulda transitioned into something a little faster and aggressive

Music flowed with video editing so it works out for me.

The video was good for what it was intended to be, but it was just too artsy. I just like car videos to be more focused on cars and less focused on artistic crap. I just couldn't really see a lot of actual drifting, just short clips of it. Just not what I want to see.

I wish I could have gotten more sound, but I the best sound I could get was from the turn closest to me. The best sound I got I put in the vid..

Sorry if it was too artistic for some but I enjoy sitting down and taking normal footage and amping it up a bit.

Thanks for the comps though guys, much appreciated ;)

I like your style of editing, Its not cliche car video editing where they leave the sound of everything in the vid such as the engine sounds and sounds of tires screeching etc etc

What editing program did you use

I used Final Cut Pro HD for cutting/audio/color correction. Shot on a Panasonic DVX100b in 24pAdvanced - NonHD.. I need HD :(

Going HD will break you, are you a film major

i was looking to go to school in burbank CA(sp?) to become an editor and do some freelance work back on the east coast, BUTTT things change

^^ I'm actually going to Art Center in Pasadena right now for Film School.. to be an editor :) While HD would make my footage look even sicker.. I think with my skills in color correcting etc.. I can still produce decent work. So HD isn't my top priority, but it's something I still have in mind.

Kinda reminds me of top gear. i was waiting for jeremy clarkson to do the commentary about how to drift haha.

Awesome video.

I have a question though. In order to qualify for Formula D all you have to do is drift 2 sweepers and manji the straight?

Yah its real easy you should try it some time. All you have to do is enter in 4th gear and hug the outter bank for ~1/8th of a mile at 80+ mph then do a "manji/switchback" on an off camber turn at about 70-80 mph then extend the drift at a solid wall and hug the outside for a decreasing radius turn than switch back again for a sweeping 180. :aw:

Don't get butt hurt. It was a question about the track layout.

Oh hey I think I saw you out there shooting. You were the only other person I saw out there with another DVX other than myself lol. Did you notice everyone else out there with HVX's? There was like 10 dudes rolling around with them.

Do what I do as far as substituting for shooting in SD. Shoot in letterbox, then crop and up-res in post to 720p. Looks great when its done. Thats the only downside to shooting in SD for web streaming. It will never look as crazy as it does on a normal tv. DVX's look SICK on regular tv's.

Great video though, maybe a tad long. But you definitely have some serious skills in color grading.

Yeah man I was getting all bummed "AHHH I NEED AN HVX!!"

But yeah, the DVX can still do wonders when used properly. I need to try that up-res for vimeo, everyone keeps talking about it.

I saw your 720p version on dvxuser. Looks great! What did you use for the up-res?

Also, what kind of settings are you using upon import/export? That's seriously some of the cleanest DVX footage I've seen after going through some sort of up-res.

For an upres, I just export the sequence in FCP to a 720p sequence/project, then re-export.. it comes out slightly distorted.. but then when I upload to vimeo it sizes it down and looks like regular Full-Res DVX footage... make sense?

Thanks man :) It's taken me a long time trying to figure out the best export/upload specs for video.
