What's involved in making it work for a non-abs s14?

it will bolt in . you just have to compress your center support bushing slightly.

that means the output shafts have the 6-bolt (3x2) pattern? Or will it not fit S13s without output shafts?

yes adey , all 95 and up J30 VLSD's had the the 6 bolt 3x2 pattern.
pre 95 had the 5 bolt and you would need the axles as well.
This is a 96 and it will bolt right into a S13 without having to deal with axles or output shafts.
madsideways, on the S14 the center support bushing is on the back half of your driveshaft allowing it to compresse slightly, due to the fact that on most S14 VLSD's and all J30's VLSD's their is a abs sensor in the front of the differential housing that makes it 1/2 of inch longer than the non abs open diff.

So how hard is the install? Sorry I am not very mechanically inclined. So all I need is this unit + Labor and I'm all set for VLSD right? I am very interested. Thanks for the reply

What about the gear ratio difference, too? It won't affect it at all?
