I ordered a set of Ichiba hubs from Touge Factory and like the usual "online car part of considerable weight and size" it came with pretty beat packaging. The studs were even sticking out of the little holes through its plastic wrap and foam padding.

Both front hubs look a bit beat up all over with knicks and scrapes all over, and on one of the front hubs it almost looks like its smashed to the point where its a bit uneven on the backside (Of course its the "backside" i guess it doesnt really matter, but hey arent these supposed to be new?) Maybe its how they are manufactured?

Look at the little nudged up lip area on the bottom right of the hub (Photos Above)

Then look at it from this view (Below)

On one stud the threads are smashed up toward the bottom and as you can see the lug nut i test fitted doesnt screw down all the way. Of course with my rotor and rim on (dont have the rims yet so im not too sure) it should fit properly regarldless of the messed up threads. But hey once again arent these supposed to be new? Heres Some more photos of jsut the random knicks and stuff "below"

The pictures really dont do it justice it looks worse in person, but again its not HORRIFYING. But in the end its just about the fact that its supposed to be "new"

Im sure you guys wouldnt be satisfied if you ordered a New Car and it came with door dings and key marks all over the side and rock chips in the window.

Yea these are just hubs you cant see em so who cares about cosmetics right? Give me some input guys did your hubs look like this? would you just keep em and deal with them int he condition they are in? Or would you try to get new ones? I mean if they are supposed to be like this just cause they are manufactured this way then cool, im good.

Also this is not supposed to be negative towards touge factory in anyway i love the guys there and they are all awesome and super helpful, and always try to offer the best customer service, ill be calling them on monday to see what they can do. But in the meantime please give me some advice zilvians.

Dude, it's a friggin hub!!! Who the hell cares about little dings and knicks? If you threw that shit at the concrete the hub would probably damage the concrete worse than the concrete damages the hub!

I didnt get my Ichiba's from TF but they came beat up like yours did. It doesn't really affect the actual hub from working but you're right it doesn't look pretty. However none of it will be seen once the hub is in place with all the brake and wheel hardware on it.

Lol. So true.

Just call them up and ask. If not it's still good.

I mentioned many times that i know its a hub, and a hub is a hub.

Just a little pet peeved about the condition it came in. (Didn't buy used hubs so was hoping for something that looked new, but its all good)

Probably will be keeping and ordering a set of rears from TF

Just wanted to see what you guys thought or experienced with your hubs, that is all.

I thought you were gonna show pics of the shitty bearings falling out.

While you have them off the car you might as well press out the bearings and get that over with.

The bearings that come in ICHIBA hubs SUCK!

Ehh some do some don't... I think it's mainly a supplier issue with the bearings. Mine are still good and I have beat on them quite a bit for over a year now.

I had a set that lasted for a year and a half, and another set that didn't even last through the install.

Those hubs are fine, what are you bitching about.

Dude your pushing it...
Some times when my Big Mac arrives to my fat ass, its got 1 piece o burger hanging out one side shits all fucked up..... I ALMOST want to bring them back in and complain, but when you see the drooling person making burgers, you just know next time to understand... lol...

I'd run those hubs...I'd probaly be a lil upset too... but I'd be more excited to install and test I guess...
toss em in you get a warranty right?
run em...

Peace.

ever think that it wasnt TFs fault and maybe shipping that is? You ever see how "well" they handle the packages?

hoclifford

Yea im definitely gonna run em, come to think of it i didn't expect much quality out of the ichiba hubs was originally going to get attains but couldn't find any, other than rhd japan but didnt want to get my own bearings pressed in.

Going to throw in the ichibas when i think of what to do with the rear z32's, attains or ichibas.

Anyone have experience with the attains? Do the Oem bearings fit?

You spent good money on those parts, I would have them replaced, or atleast tell Touge factory to send you new studs. The fucked up thread will rip apart any lug nuts you throw on there. Stripped studs/lug nuts are not fun to replace at the track. I know most people on here are saying who cares, but those are the same people who find a cockroach in their filet mignon and say just eat around it. Imagine if you bought a brand new car and it was beat to shit. Just cuz u store it in the garage and no one sees it, doesnt make things right. -1 to touge factory for selling beat shit. +1 cuz I know they will help you.

Ichiba are *probably made in China (ichiba has a u.s. office but that doesn't mean shit). I'm sure the hubs are gravity cast with inferior materials by 11 year old girls with missing fingers like everything else they make whether it's for the auto performance aftermarket or not. I would expect them to be as crappy in comparison to OEM.

I'd like to see a set that have been installed for like a year... and the severity of flash-rust that has accumulated by now.

but yeah as per the consensus of this thread, TG didn't fail at their shipping process. it is what it is.
