or u can take a to a shop that will break in ur motor for u it will take like an hour

your engine builder should have given you precise instructions on break in procedures . when i had my motor done if i didnt follow the break in procedures i wouldnt retain the warrenty that my machinest offered . if he didnt give you instructions , i would call and ask their recomendations .

I also just finished my motor the most I have done with it was start it up let it reach operating temp check for any leaks then change oil. Now that I know the motor is ready to be broken in and tuned I set up a date with the shop that's gonna do the tuning and I'm gonna let them breaknit in on the dyno and tune it. I wouldn't drive it around with out being tuned or at least having a decent base map. You wouldn't want it to blow up cause of bad tuning.

what i will be doing in a few weeks
using a magnetic drain plug
First start up/check for leaks (aorund 30mins)
Drain and put in new dino oil.
Drive ~10-15 miles. MAx rev 3000 a few times, then max rev 5000 a few times, and max rev 6500 a few times
while doing so, remember to let the rpms drop in gear to create vaccum to seal rings.
Drain oil again.
Then drive, drain oil at 500 miles
then drive, drain oil at 1000 miles.
all dino oil
will be starting syn @ 3k
this is what im going to be doing.

dude just frikin drive the car normally. dont go crazy on boost dont go over 0 on ur gauge . drive it like that for 500 miles or more.. do some highway driving 60-70 do some traffic too . thats iot. no big deal

simple as this. DONT BOOST/DRIVE HARD UNTIL YOU GET IT TUNED

dang , i have a ka-t with 8.8:1 arias pistons and my engine builder told me do 500 miles with dont pass 3k revs then oil change. dont pass 4k for 500 miles and so on ! i was like wtf ?!?

Everyone has their own break in regiment..
But I have a fresh built motor that I should be starting up in a few weeks and Im doing this...
Non detergent conventional 30w, Start it, run it for 2 minutes, change the oil.
Drive for 500 miles keeping revs under 5k and varying RPM
Change the oil, drive another 500 miles keeping revs under 6k and varying rpm
Change oil, drive another 500 miles giving it good throttle now and then.
Then switch to mobil 1 and beat the balls out of it.

i just got my engine back from the builder and so far i've got about 50 miles on it. i just did a compression test on it today and it was fine across the board. just be easy on it. i've taken it up to 4k under very light load and even 4.5k. just be easy on it. I"m giong to do an oil change at 100 miles with regular oil..non synthetic. then again at 300 miles then again at 500 miles and switch to synthetic 5w-30. should be fine. you're just deburring the cylinder walls with the rings and seating them properly.

go get it tuned and running right, than beat the fuck out of it so the piston rings seal tight.
easy break in doesnt seal piston rings good.

well my compression is fine and i'm going to do another test after my next oil change to see if there is a diference. technically, compression should build to fsm specs. I guess i'm already there.

my friend built his ka24det and drove it around the block without dyno tune. blew that shit up. now he regrets it a lot. but on the bright side hes getting wiseco performance pistons....

+1 I did a breakin in process very similar to his on 2 motors.

i know not to over boost that easy but what i worry is running rich or lean
im not gonna beat the car till over 3k :tardrim:

When I had rebuilt my engine, I drove it normally and changed the oil 3000 miles later. NEVER had a problem with it, but because most places are worried about shavings and such getting in the cylinders and scoring up piston walls and messing up valves they want you to change oil like a mad man.
That's all fine and dandy.
All depends on the builder.

agreed

i didnt even start the mine after i rebuilt it until i got the ecu tuned from rs enthalpy. i didnt want to risk fucking up my engine after all the time and effort put in to it. i would get that shit tuned but that just me. you definetly wanna use some superior motor oil though.
