thats basically the Gist of it all..
my questions are...
what is safe to rev to on the head? its basically stock just s13 cams..
and will my car yeild 400whp with the s13 cams? should i get another exhaust cam for to make it 248/248? or should i just go bigger altogther?
thanks guys!!

i wouldn't push the head past 7500 if everything is still in good shape. Just buy BC street/strip 264's it should make your life alot easier

its kinda pointless reving it to 7500 anyway, 7k would be fine.
The KA usually starts losing power in the higher revs anyway, turbo or not.
If you look at most KA dyno sheets their powerband is usually between 3k-5.5k

are the springs and retainers/valves upgraded? that would be my major concern with how high to take it.
why do you want it that high anyway? KA is different powerband than an SR

Doesn't matter. The head isn't the issue, it can rev to way more than the block will allow.

^ what he said. The power band an engine makes is completely changable depending on cams and stuff. The KA head has no rocker arms and could be set up to rev really high.
The bottom end isnt though. keep the rev limitter at around 7k. The cranks in KA's get a mean vibration around 7200. That isnt an easy thing to take care of either. Nissan motorsports has tons of time and money invested in getting the NA KA's in the Corr race trucks to rev really high and make over 350hp but its not something you can do easily.
I think you'll be surprised, you wont feel the need to rev high. the torque is like a totally different feeling. I have a kA-T and even nice SR's feel weak to me even if they are actually faster than my car.

Yeah reving that high should be no prob. Check out KA-t.org for more info. If your interested Ive got a set of 95+cams (240/248 duration) for sale. PM me if youre interested

like the guys said 7k you should be fine,if u want to rev it that high, when i got my car dyno tuned when i reached 5200k rpms my car basicly leveled of ,so it did not loose power it just stayed the same till about 6500k rpms, and that was on my s14 cams.
btw why you switching to the ka-t side?
good luck wit everything.

I have KA24DET...the only way your going to get a KA reving higher than 7k "reliably" is by investing in a fully counterwaited crankshaft end of story, that the weak link here when it comes to reving the KA higher, and get some PDM cams :)

JWT S1's are very good cams that drop in with no cam gears needed.
BC 264's intake cam seem to be alot off these days...
You should be able to hit 400whp at about 20lbs of boost.

Fail. 91-early 93 cams are 240/248. Late 93-98 are 232/232.

i was gonna say something about that. the s14's bump in compression ratio and re-designed intake manifold are the reason they can use milder cams and still make the same power as the s13 KA.
