is the earlier model 300zx non turbo equipped with a limited slip. if so, compatable with s13? i can get one for near free.... but the chance of it working i think is out on a limb

does it have a limited slip? possibly, a clutch-type. the turbos always had LSDs. some later turbos had VLSDs. The turbo gear ratio is something like 3.6:1 though.
Is it compatible with the S13 (turbo and non)? Sort of. The pumpkin won't even come close to fitting. The diff itself - the internals - are R200 parts, though, and will fit into the S13 if you disassemble both diffs, swap gears over, etc. This requires professional install as the bearings have to be preloaded with clearances set, etc.
It's not worth it, IMO, even for free, unless you can get a screaming deal on the labor. Just find an S13 VLSD.

It hasn't been done, ever, as far as anyone here or on FA knows of. There is a possibility that the pinions won't line up in a s13 housing. And of course what he just said.

Theres an install right up on 240sx.org I think. I can't remember where it is though, the links might not be there anymore after they changed the site up a bit a few days ago.

There was actually a thread where someone was saying swapping z31 internals into an R200 would work.
"i can make any r200 now work with 240sx!!!!! (http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB9&Number=67239320&page=&view=&sb=&o=&fpart=1&vc=1)"

Just to clarify...all the above info refers to Z31 diffs.
Z32 NA diffs will fit with only a change in output shafts (to S13 VLSD output shafts) or change in axles (to J30 axles). Z32 TT diffs will not fit; they are R230s and are physically much larger than the R200s.
