View Full Version : Stupid bouncing idle

A few weeks ago my car (KA24DE) decided it no longer wants to idle right once its warmed up (about 80-90c). Most of the time its rock solid at 700, but then it will drop to 400 and start bouncing and sound like its missing a cylinder.

I checked the cylinders by pulling the plug wires 1 at a time and then again by disconnecting the injectors 1 at a time, rpm would drop just as expected.

I then rechecked the timing (disconnect TPS method), it was right at 20 with rpm at 750.

I tried to play with the idel screw to see if i could get it lower like the FSM says but found out the screw was bottomed out, is that normal for anyone else?? Also is there supposed to be a sping in there? I didnt see one.

I took the screw out and it was all coated in that black crap so i sparyed it down with TB cleaner. Put it back in and in the original position.

I also tried to clean the IACV by shooting TB cleaner down the tube with the engine running. Used a whole can.

That seemed to have fixed it for about 30 min, then it starts acting up again.

Anyone have any other ideas???

remove iacv and clean well. you'll fix it no doubt.
maybe run a seafoam before removing iacv to clean up intake mani and internals abit to keep from gumming up/

gl brudda.

thats not his problem brudda

sounds like you're misfiring

check your ignition wires and spark plug holes make sure theres no oil leaking into there

if there is you need a new valve cover gasket

make sure the boots are all in contact

make sure each wire is sparking correctly and at the end no where earlier

that will cause a misfire

Put in all new plugs, wires and even a blaster 2 coil. Thats what i thought it was at first, but none of it fixed the problem.

No oil leaks, new gaskets already done.

Most of the time its fine, except when it get all warmed up and i have to idle in traffic.
