Why is that sticking up like that? I know its my intake manifold gasket, but I have no idea why that's there... unless I put the gasket on wrong when I put the motor in.

definitely seems as if you put it on wrong. is it the only piece sticking out?

No, no, no.

The OE intake manifold gasket is like that for some reason. There's a couple of extra 'tabs' that come off of it. Even a few aftermarket gaskets are like that, no clue why.

Oh.... Well.... Hmm. I'm thinking of taking the manifold off anyway so I can blast and paint it and make changing the IACV easier.

damn mine, wasn't like that. neither was the manifold's I took off at the junkyard today. guess it was trimmed off or possibly an aftermarket one without that extra piece.

Was it like that for all dual cams or specific years?

When you get aftermarket gaskets they have extra holes maybe for altima ka's and what not.

Hell, the way nissan is, that gasket could also fit the L22 engines from earlier years. nissan is cool like that :)
