I sold a longblock and we put in the back of the guy's hatch, fit fine. I'm guessing if laid down it will clear with manifolds.

honestly just use a truck, it doesnt sound worth it putting it back there, if it even fits at all, youll probably have to take off the hatch anyways just to set the motor in...

A 240SX wasn't built to carry two engines at once. If your gonna drive a couple of hundred miles anyways, you might as well use the truck....infact, if you add a couple of hundred pounds to your 240SX, that will decrease you're mileage. So, yea, just take the truck.

What kind of mileage does your fastback get with that much extra weight in it?

Just use the truck.

my truck goes 75mph max foot to the floor, it gets around 15mpg on the highway. the sohc-t gets about 24-25 highway with two people and all sorts of junk probaly totaling 200lbs not including me.
i hauled one of those garage in a box things and about 7 bags of cement in the back of my fastback.

my car is way more comfortable so screw it, il take pics.

think about it more like this, if you got in an accident one of the cars allows an engine to come forward and slap the shit out of the back of your head.

the other will just fly out and fuck someone else up

my calculations of course are under apocalyptic conditions, otherwise you're fine. But yeah use your damn truck or save up and buy a local engine.

If you have a truck use it, it'll be easier to get it in and out of. I'm sure it'll fit in the 240 but that's your choice.

if you don't think your truck will make the haul, put it in the hatch and strap it down.

I've had two motors in the back of my old accord...then again they were both d16z6's....

Yes, it will fit. I transported one in the back of a friend's fastback.

Hell, I put a COMPLETE DOHC KA with all the accessories on it INSIDE of my S13 coupe. hahaha

My brothers hatch has carried a bunch of KA's and has carried an rb20 with tranny.
Hatches can handle it.

thank you thats the info i was looking for.
the 86 4runner will make it no problem its just that i have to have my foot through the firewall to stay at highway speed due to the 31in tires and small 2.4l engine.

I say take the hatch back, who knows you might need the dohc if your SOCH-t shits the bed. Roadtrip motor swappin.:coolugh:

By the way yes it will fit i have seen it done.

Hatch it, its always funny as shit to see someone doing that. I pulled some parts off of a hatch that wrecked carrying another engine. Good times.

man i'd use a truck, too much hassle putting it in a hatch.

I love my 2.4 SOHC KA nissan pickup.

pulling a full 240sx?
Two full sr motorsets? not a problem!

Truck bed conversion for your fastback. Then you'll never have to use your 4 runner.:keke:

Yep, also hauled 2 doors and a vq35 at the same time.

10-08-2008, 10:42 AM
I transported a DOHC KA that I had built in the trunk of my S14 before I went SR. So I would imagine a S13 Hatch shouldn't have any issues.

do it in the 240! doo itttttt..... but calculate your mileage with and without the engine in the back, also measure stuff like ride height and take tons of pictures

make it all scientific n shit, and fuck the haters... PICS!

I got 29mpg mixed city/highway on the way down from Maryland to North Carolina with the empty hatch, then 27mpg pretty much straight highway back up with the two fully loaded doors and the vq35 longblock.

Btw, my hatch can get 32 on the highway If I drive it nicely.

As for ride height, my 240 is magically higher than any other stock 240 for some reason, it didnt droop really bad with the vq and doors because I placed the weight right. But when I let a friend borrow the car to pick up the rb20 he stuck the trans where the back seat should be, but put the heavy ass motor all the way in the back instead of above the subframe, I was tucking tire, looked like the damn thing was launching all the time.

Oh, you can fit a passenger and a full origin kit in a hatch too.

And for some fun pictars...

that guy had a point..
dont rule out the chance that you could get in an accident no matter how careful you are..

if u hit anything over 50mph well.... just reduce ur chances of survival by 105%

Is it really worth it for the whopping $10-$15 in gas that you will save? I mean seriously, you HAVE a truck, just use the damn truck. It is absolutely dumbfucktarded to even consider hauling it in the 240 when you have a truck sitting right there. Even if it wastes $25 more gas, who gives a fuck? It's 25 measly dollars.

240sxaddict

I agree with racepar, a truck is easier.

I don't own a truck, but I do have a rusted out hatch. If I had a truck, that would have been used.

On that note I'm picking up another KA this week... in the hatch.

Seriously!!! I totally understand if you don't have a truck (like me), and I know that you can fit like half the damn world in the back of a fastback 240 (trust me, you should see mine on the way to the track). But if you have a truck in your posession or at your fingertips it is just retarded to go through the hassle, and un-safety, of hauling something like a motor in the back of your 240.

one time i made a deal and i had no other way to get a ka24de-t to this guys house to trade for a car

soo i put it in back of my dads 93 ford escort that shit was pretty much bottomed out but i made it and traded it!!!!!!

why is this thready still going? 100% of the people want you to use the truck, just because it will fit in the 240 doesn't mean you should put it there.

i have a dual cam for sale and i'm less than 10 miles away

p.s. that much weight in the rear makes steering and braking turn to shit.

problem solved. The amount of gas money you are going to spend plus however much you are buying the motor for, using either (preferably truck) for the trip, will amount to (probably) the price of silviachick420's motor. Whatever you do, use the truck.
