So, after buying this car three months ago, I've only driven it 100 miles. Combined with my new position (apparently, unlike transactional attorneys, litigation attorneys have to work 60 hours a week.... who knew  :P) and the need to purchase a dwelling in this crappy economy, this fact has led me to put it on the market.
Some of you may know this car, as it belonged and was built by Martin Cromwell. After an unfortunate incident with the Long Beach police department, Martin lost the car. I found it several months later and decided to save it... I ended up trading a 1999 B5 Passat 1.8T for it (thus, at $3700, I'm losing a decent chunk of change). My plan was to stick an LSx in it, but at this point, I simply don't have time for it.
The car has the following:
- full cage - according to Martin, to replicate something like this would cost about $2500 in man-hours and materials
- R154 5-speed swap
- Supra LSD
- overfenders
- Sparco bucket and steering wheel with NRG hub
- 2DIN Toyota CD player
- hood vent
- Starion wheels
What it would need to be perfect:
- With the factory suspension (cut springs), the car still handles quite well, obviously due to the cage, but some coilovers (JZX81s can be had on Yahoo Auctions for as low as $200 with camber plates) would make it amazing
- there is a dent in the rear door, but a junkyard door would be easy to find
- The seatbelts have been converted from electric to manual - they are held in the B-pillars by bolts that are smaller than stock (the US-spec MX83 never had bolt holes in the B-pillars) and the car needs either harnesses or a bracket welded to the roll-bar to put a bigger bolt in (as Martin was planning on doing) to be on the safe side.
Car needs to be smogged, but I will do so (just haven't had time).
