the belt is new and and has right tension. this has been going on for several years. i moved the belt over to other side of pully and this stopped noise for awhile. ( i have a 3 rib belt on a 4 rib pulley so i have two choices of how the belt fits on). the old 4 rib belt made noise as well. i tried a ton of dishwasher soap and that only worked for short time. im guessing it is the water pump pulley out of alignment as the pump has been replaced several times. any feedback appreciated.

There's not proper tension if it squeals. Simple. When the belt warms up the rubber expands just a hair, enough to stop the noise. Loosen the belt a little.

I think the belt also becomes more pliable/softer as it warms which would reduce friction? I've already experimented with different tensions. the belt is currently on the loose side.

RDM you sure you didnt mean tighten it? Ive always had squealing problems with a loose belt. Tightened it up a bit and all noise went away

pretty sure he meant tighten but my belt is rubbing on the sides. i can see scuff marks on side of belt.

It will squeal either way, tight or loose. Too tight though will quiet down after it warms up.
