What PSI do you run in them, and what kind do you run? I ran recently at the track with some MT ET Drags in the 26x8.5x15 size. (My first time on slicks.) They hooked like hell out of the hole, but anytime after that, they felt like I was riding on grease and was extremely squirrely. I thought is was just me, so I let my friend make a pass with it and he about put it in the wall.

I was under the impression slicks should be squirmy up top, but not THAT much. I did a decent burnout before each run as well. 13Psi in each slick mounted on a 15x7 wheel. When I examined the slicks after each run, it only looked like I was riding on about 5 or 6 inches of the actual tire contact area. So, does this sound normal or should I drop the PSI. Ive heard run 8psi to no less than 14psi. Suggestions?

I cant remember the process exactly but you are supposed to start at something like 16 psi (this im not sure of, possibly more). Then take out .5 psi untill your mph starts to drop. I havent driven a car with slicks personaly so im not the best resource, but i hope this helps.

Thanks for your input. Hopefully somebody with experience will chime in. Over 100 views and NOBODY has used slicks before? Wow.

What are you running up front?

It might be because real drag slicks expand at speed (bulge in the middle) and the contact patch gets way small. It is somewhat possible that that is just the way the tires are. Have you asked any other drag guys at the track that run slicks? Tire pressures are not chasis specific.

Falken Azenis RT 615 in the 235/40/17 size. They're fine though. When I run with my Falkens on the back, I don't get that greasy feeling so it must be the slicks.

That does make sense. Nah, I have not asked anybody else at the track that was running slicks. It was already one in the morning and I had to jack my shit up and put my Falkens back on. I do need to figure out the right PSI for the slicks, as the best 60 foot I could manage with street tires was 2.07.

You're running a radial and a bias ply, this results in it being more sketchy.

Read through that thread. Slicks, MT ET streets, greasyness, tire pressure, etc is talked about.

Dude, THANKS!! Very good read. It looks like the best choice would be to run some Bias ply's in front, but I don't have the money for that at the moment. So, it seems as if my tire pressure in my slicks was too low. I'll try 16 at the track and see how that feels. Thanks again for the link!
