Wondering if anyone has an opinion on these tires? I am looking for a new set, and the guys at Discount Tire told me they grip damn good, and are good for autocroxing / street use. Don't remember the model name, but they were z rated on the speed side. So, hankook any good, or should I stick with faulken?

Falken tires are great. I have never heard of the other brand, and places that I go to (shops, tirerack.com, discounttire.com) don't have them. Also... you could check out Kumho tires. Best bang for the buck I think. (As in, you really can't get better $60 tires).

These run $86 a tire, and the guys there swear by them. Four of them used these on there cars, and they said they grip like they are riding on rails. I am split between these, faulken, and the kuhmo esta's. Anyone dealt with the hankook's ever?

i'll look it up in a day or so
have you google'd it yet to find info?
I don't have first hand knowledge from running them, they are made in Korea along with Kumho, haven't heard anything terrible about them. Both companies have tech centers here in Akron, Rubber Capital of the World!

I went to Tire Barn last week looking for autox tires for this season. The guy there recommended several. He said Kuhmo Ecsta MX, Toyo TS-1's, Falken Azeni's, Yoko ES100, and the Hanook Ventus 102. I was looking for tires under $100 so this ruled out the toyo's, yoko's, and kuhmos. The guy told me that I would get an awesome amount of grip from both tires. He said I would also get about 10K more miles out of the hanook's too. I decided to go with the Falken's just because they looked hella cool.

i know falkens have more grips than kumhos by experience..
but if you put a semi racing tires on your car,
wouldnt you be in ssm class instead of staying on G-stock class?

Nope. Most of the guys I race with use Kuhmo Victoracers. They are still in GS with me.
Hankook and Kumho are the best quality I think.. Better than Michelin or Falken... In fact, they got the second place on last competition. Good luck...

Well, I haven't heard any negative reviews on em, so I'll give them a shot. Will I be okay running 215's in the rear on stock 97 se rims? Right now, I'm on 205/55/r16, but want to know the widest I can go without any worries.
Thanks for the help.
205 is a sensible size, you could prb stretch a 215 on there but it would be over kill for the car

I have heard all good with Kumho and Hankook but with falkens on the other hand I have heard more bad than good.
You should just pop for a set of Yokos or Bridgestone(Any of the Poll Positions are awesome tires)
Tires, like most everything on a car, comes down to personal preferance. Just buy what you want.

Sweet deal. Make sure you let us know if they are a good tire.

Yoko's are overrated in my opinion. I put four of them on when I bought my car a year ago, and the grip was okay on dry, and total crap during rain. I went thru four sets on my old camaro, and overpaid every damn time. Never used Bridgestone though. Going with the hankook's, and will let everyone know if they get my thumbs up or not.
Well, I'm running Hankook Ventus Plus 225/50ZR16 tires on my car and I love them. Good grip, hard to lose traction... But I do think they won't last long.

I have heard alot of good things about Hankook tires. The only reason that people doesn't like them is because they are made in Korea ( I guess ) and they are not that famous. Maybe they sounds like a "ricy" brand ?
Few of my friend use them on their ITR and CTR at the road track event and autox. I think they are good for lighter weight cars.

Well...the hankook's ended up not being in stock, and long story short after a couple of trips to different tire places, I ended up getting the kumho 712's. Can't complain though...sticky as hell and I knew what I was getting instead of the hankook's. Never really heard of the hankook's before this week. Well, I'm happy and now I can refocus my resources (cash) back to the ka-t project.
Mark...who appreciates the help from everyone, but ended up being all for nothing.
Stuffs that are made in Korea[South] have much better quality than one in China or Japan. I'm using Hankook tire for my car, it runs much better than Yokohama's and even Michelin's. I don't think people doesn't like this because it made in Korea, there is something besides it. Maybe it's new to U.S.. anyway.. hakook tire is awesome..man..

Ehhh.
So you're telling me that Korean automotive products, or in this case..tires, outrank Japanese products??? Hmmm. I dont know. Not saying the K-products are crap, but please lets keep an open mind about this.
I think you guys should check where the Yokohama factorys located at, and also where the materials coming from..

I don't care if yoko made their tires out of babies or if their factory was in the sea!
I have been nothing but pleased about the Yoko's that I have had experiance with. The older AVS tires were fantastic and had great traction, wear, and the compound stayed consistent with temp changes. I am shure that the new AVS is even better.
Also Paradas are great tires, they to have awesome grip whether dry or wet. They don't last long if your have a bit of camber or abuse them to much but every other tire is the same way. I wish they could last a few more miles but thats what you get with soft grippy tires.
I have not had any experiance with Hankooks so I can't formulate an opinion about them. I all know is that I have heard they are good tires.
In the end it is just personal preferance. I will stick with my Yoko's and Bridgstones and there is nothing anyone can say that will make me change my mind. I will stop using them when I have had a few bad sets of them. Yoko A520 and Bridgstone S-03 PP are the best street tires on earth IMO.
misnomer

It doesn't matter where they come from, just that they do the trick :P
I really wish I put the money up for some better tires than the ones I bought. Oh well, I'll wear through them sometime in the next fifty thousand miles >:-)
