I currently bought a Stack ST8100 from a member here, however, I want to know how people think of it as i couldn't alot of threads about this.

I was looking at the stack site and the ST8100 doesn't display gas-level. Can any one confirm?? The main reason I asked because this is my track car but I do drive it on the street. Is there an expension kit or w/e I can buy to ad that features??

For anyone who has used this, can you tell me what you like and hate about this unit?? I found a installing guide on here but all the pics are gone..:-/

Thanks for the help!!

The stacks do not display gas level, hit up Broadfield to find out what he used to monitor his gas level.

Dousan_PG has the Stack 8130 I believe in his car which also doesn't measure gas level. His response to the gas indicator was "fuck it I carry gas with me just in case"

lol.

Of course stack clusters read gas. I know of a couple working properly in a DC2 and AP2, both display in Liters.

I think what he means is, there isn't a needle/gauge dedicated to it. I believe Broadfield used a Defi fuel level gauge.

whoops...

The STACK 8100 series racing display can display up to FOUR sensor readouts simultaneously, and has a 10k rpm redline. In Black Color.

8100 has the ability to read up to 10 sensor inputs.

As seen in F1 racing and top Japan tuner cars.

8100 series can read the following:

RPM (10k rpm)
Water Temperature
Oil Temperature
Oil Pressure
Fuel Pressure
Speed
Odometer
Fuel Meter
Lap Time
Corner Speed

This meter replaces the factory dash cluster in a vehicle, and can be fitted onto most vehicles and even motorcycles.

The 8100 model is best suited for highly competitive racers who wish to improve their lap times, and monitor various speeds maintained on each portion of a circuit.

yeah it has gas
and speedo
but i didnt hook up either

its the jam
go to the stack site to get all the details

mine's 8130 model

i dont hate anything about it, for my track use
well one thing
its hard to get it flush mounted, because of the bar that runs behind/supports the dash
the military plug on the stack hits it so it has to sit forward

my friend, flybert, his dad cut and welded up that bar a bit so it sits farther back. its awesome.

other then that, does everything i need
EXTREMELY easy to wire up (Power/ground) and tap the signal on the tach (may require tach adapter)

everything else is plug in

OH for boost, only the expensive models have the boost option

i just run a separate boost gauge, i dont like digital boost
flyberts has the digital boost, changes too fast to read, only good for peak infos

Oh alright, thanks for the info. So If I have more than 4 sensor hook up to the meter, there is a switch for me to change the readings?? OR I have to re-program it everytime???

do u own this thing or ???

buy it new, comes w/ everything u need
gives u 4 buttont to change/program etc etc

when u buy it u wiring in power ground tapthe tach and plug and play
its extremely easy to put in
on thing that will take more work is getting the gas gauge and speedo going

I bought it yesterday but I haven't received it yet. I've ask the seller about it but he doesn't seems to know alot of the function of the cluster. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Anyone have any expirence comparing the stack to the aim sports cluster.

the stack ST8130 retails for arround $1,488
SARD STACK Meter ST8130 (http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/SARD-STACK-Meter-ST8130-24540)

SPL sells the the aim sports for as cheep as $990
http://splparts.com/main4/Parts/Universal/Electrical/Gauges/AIM/default.htm

The lower end model of the aim sports gauge doesn't have any data logging features, and I don't really like the digital tach, but for the price cut it may do what I need.

Anyone have first hand expirence with the 2 clusters (pros and cons of both?)

Dousan_PG

imo aim is a great gauge
but i hate digital and i dont need datalogging

i tink the stack is a classic looking and does exactly what i need!

DJPimpFlex
10-04-2008, 09:33 PM
but is the stack worth the extra money over the aim set up?

Dousan_PG
10-04-2008, 09:39 PM
does the aim read everything off the ECU????

When connected to the ECU the MXL can read rpm, speed, gear, water temp, oil temp, fuel pressure, boost, and more, depending on ECU and which sensors are connected.

i kidna prefer the separate sensors personally as well
i can most of that shit off the PFC (ECU INFO)

JVDSKYRINE
10-05-2008, 01:32 PM
i thought the stacks displayed fuel pressure not fuel level??

I also would like to hear some input from people using both stack and the MXL ones

Like does the stack come with everythig you need for one price? i thought for both you had to spend more money getting all the extra sensors

Dousan_PG

no it has a guage for it (numbers--digital)
yes it comes w/ EVERYTHING you need

oh but the fuel thing on s13 i hae to get some adapter im told, which AUTOMETER Makes

Finally got my Stack today.

It doesn't seems to have any expansion on fuel meter sensors nor the instruction has mention anything about it. Is it because it is a ST8100 and not a 8130?? where did u find the spec Om1kron???

the harness was cut here..i believe this is for the wheel speed sensor and lateral accleration sensor and somthing else. Does that mean I can't read speed on the cluster now??

thanks for the advice but I did do the research. On the stack site it said it doesnt have a fuel meter interface. But when I asked the seller, he said he's 100% sure u can read fuel level. So I open up this thread and ask for some opinions which turns out that Om1kron said it can read fuel level as well. Then I received the cluster this morning and found you there is no expansion which I got confuse. So I just posted it up to make sure.

Yea..and the harness was cut..so wtf

anyways, thanks for all the help.

life goes on
its still an awesome setup

and dont forget to put a negative review on the seller in the correct forum!!!

Um wouldn't it make sense to do research BEFORE you buy something?

I'm sure the seller wouldn't dare post pictures of a hacked up stack cluster and request almost retail for the device stating it was never used. My brother had some shit like that happen to him when he ordered his stand alone for his 1J motor for his Corolla.

I delete it cuz i don't want to hurt my sell. it will come with a repaired harness anyways so I don't see your point..

Lol... you are selling this cluster now after having just got it? And you aren't telling the buyer about the hacked up harness?... shady.

If the harness is repaired why not keep it?

Cuz the gauges read mph, psi and degrees in F but the when I bought it..the seller told me its in km/h, bar and degrees in C; Which I can't get used to...I am trying to get my money back from the seller now since he sold me something that I can't even use. Just incase I couldn't get the money back, so I just posted it up on a local broad hopefully I can get somewhat my money back.

Talking about shady, I paid $1035USD for the cluster, repair harness cost me $300 and I am selling it for $1100CAD locally which is like..1000USD. HOW IS THAT FUCKING SHADY!!

Like i said..since the harness is repaired, I don't know how it is hack up and I have to tell the buyer that. I don't see people selling their car with a replaced turbo because it was blown and then make a note in their ad: "TURBO REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS BLOWN BEFORE!!!"
And I can't believe you open up an account and flame my thread just for this...get a life.

It wouldn't happen to be the guy who was selling it on zilvia would it? Because that would mean that all you had to do was search the fs thread. Don't see stack clusters too often....

I asuming it was, b/c the OP posted in that thread, but lets not say anything else that might hurt his chances of getting his money back.

This is the reasons that I am trying to buy everything new. Too many shady ppl out there, nowadays.

Lol... someone's butthurt. Clearly an August registration date corresponds to your October thread :keke:

This is a piece of electronics, not a turbo on a used car. Basically you are selling a refurbished cluster. Personally, I would be furious if someone sold me that without stating so. It isn't ethical to simply repair the damage and call it good as new. But hey... it is your sale, and clearly you are more concerned with the truth affecting whether or not you can sell the cluster.
