I have about 140k miles on my 240 and i was wondering about how long can they run well. It runs like a kitten besides that whole timing chain guide thingy and thats about it.
I was also wondering if I should just get a new KA, since I want to keep the car, or should I just get another 240 with way less miles on it, right now i can get another KA for cheap, 5 speed, meaning i would also have to change the tranny.
Yes it sounds confusing, but there is a method to the madness.

love the attachment!
they run as well as you can take care of it and how much abuse you put it thru. bjones has over 200K and it runs very well still. of course wont TC it but as far as stock goes, runs great.
your current KA shoud be fine, if you take care of it.

The KA is a very strong motor and has the pontential to go three times the miles you have on your's. I don't think that 140K is a legit reason to get a new engine. What ever is wrong with your "timing chain guide thingy" can be fixed. And if it runs like " a kitten" I can't even figure out why you would want a new motor, seems like a waste of money and a perfectly good KA to me.

The mileage on the car is mostly a psychological issue, trust me. . it's hard to overcome it, but I have 104k on my 97 S14..
I look past the mileage, and realize the paint, and interior especially, are in excellent shape, carpet is clean. . everything is fine on the car, for the most part... I sometimes with my car had no odometer. .
