I got an Earl's oil feed line. The inlet on the turbo is 1/8th npt thread. The line is regular 3/8th's inch. Is a 3/8th's inch fitting the same as -3 AN?

no. an is air craft thread, so the threads on not compatible. -3 hose is 3/16 hose, but fittings are fittings and they're not the same. your best bet is to get -3 nitrous line (that way it already has the -3 hose end fittings on it, then get a -3 an nitrous fitting on one end that you can put a different size "shot" in (aka ninja oil restrictor) and the other end 1/8 npt.

that takes care of the seal at the turbo, and also takes care of the correct restrictor size, if you do some research and ask the right questions to get the right restrictor.

by getting nitrous -3 line you save yourself from poking your skin getting the hose ends on as well as a little cash because you don't have to pay for hose and pay for 2 fittings

the other option is you can see if they have a -3 to 1/8npt 90 degree fitting, you can thread that into your turbo ( you may need to take off the compressor/exhaust housing to spin it in) but that'll keep the steal braided hose looking good and not poking up. however you need to figure out the correct oil restriction for the turbo for this application.

Damn, cuz I couldn't find a 3/8th inch to 1/8th npt adaptor.

let me correct myself, -3 is a lot smaller than 3/8th hose. 3/8 hose is pretty damn big for just an oil feed. -3 or -4 steal braided hose is all you need tops.

you also need to restrict the oil going to the turbo or you'll blow the welds on your intake lol seriously though you'll blow the oil seals in the turbo, then you'll have to buy another turbo AND the real shit for the plumbing, so do it right.

Im a total newb to Oil lines and fittings, but I do know that the return line on my RB25 turbo (On my RB20) is leaking and I was going to upgrade it to braided lines. What fittings should I get, and does anybody know a good reputable website to get them from?

-3 is NOT 3/8" line/tubing size - it's 3/16". -6 is 3/8", which is why you aren't seeing anything that goes from whatever this 3/8" line you keep talking about to -3 AN.

You need to post some pictures because your terminology is a little off.

Ok let me rephrase my question, I wasn't asking if -3 an is the same tubing size as 3/8ths, what i asked was if the threads were the same. I finally found a chart that said -3 an is 3/16th size tubing and the threads are SAE 3/8ths. which is what I was wondering.

-3 threads is NOT sae 3/8ths thread, -3 AN thread is air craft thread. it will not seal , you'll mess up your threads and your feed line will leak oil and starve your turbo, then eventually as you're driving and the rest of your oil leaks out of it you'll starve your head of oil and have a nice rod knock to go along with a bad turbo, a bad head, and a still leaking oil feed line.

AN fittings, and sizes, are derived from the 1/16 scale.

So a -3 AN is actually 3/16.

A -2 AN is 2/16 or 1/8.

A -6 AN is 6/16, or 3/8.

Get it now?

Oh, and also, I think AN fittings have a slight taper to them, no? Please correct me if I'm wrong on this one, I'll change my post later to reflect the correct answer, so no misinformation gets spread by me.

I had no way of checking which AN this line was before i ordered the right adaptor for it. I wanted to make sure I ordered the right one. So I played with some fittings at napa, of course they didn't have what i needed but I was checking the sizes and the line is SAE 3/8ths thread. So i was trying to figure out which AN that is, not the tubing size the thread size for a fitting on an AN line. So i found this chart.
