So I just picked up an s13 coupe with a bunch of front suspension issues... but in addition to that the back tires squeal at really low speeds while turning... im talking foot off the gas, 1mph and the steering wheel turned and the tires squeal. It has a welded diff which ive never had any experience with... is the squealing a side effect of a welded diff or do you think it might be an alignment issue? I'm not taking it in to get aligned until I finish replacing the front suspension.
Any ideas?

Welded diff
Inner tire is being forced to turn at the wrong speed.
Do you not feel this happening?

back tires chirping while turning, is what you get from a welded diff.
done.
your front suspension makes a different noise when you need to align it.
sounds more like understeer.
you should be fine.
if anything get a lifetime alignment someplace....
get it aligned now and later.
/thread.

The front susp issues are kinda disctracting from whats going on in the back... whoever i bought it from decided that cutting a stock spring and using the wheel welll instead of the top of a strut would be a good idea for the driver side... and cutting a ground control in half would be a good idea for the passenger side.
But thx for the insight, one less thing i have to worry about...

Just a quick point of information, since you have no experience with welded diffs, don't go crazy on the gas on any turns, and be very careful in the rain. The rear end will kick out pretty easy, you will get used to it after awhile and be able to predict it.

Only if you're a ghey and eat penis. The point is to go around the track faster than anyone else, following the correct driving line and hitting the braking zones just right.

I guess I'm "ghey" cause sideways it is! thats why I bought a 240 for drifting...my "track" car however is a wrx. that's why I bought that....have fun getting sideways...welded diffs are nice...oh soo nice!:2f2f:
