Took my valve cover off today to look into some issues im having with my car.... anywho... lost one of the bolts for my valve cover somewhere on the garage floor or stuck on the engine somewhere... so i need new ones.... Anyone know where i can get a new set either online or is it something i can get from the dealership?

Quickest place to get them is at the parts department at your local nissan dealer.

haha. i had the same exact problem as you man. luckily my friend had like a billion bolts in his garage. i ended up finding one with the same thread pattern and size, it just has a allen wrench top on it. i need to get the chrome ones they sell on ebay. Ah the power of eGay. ;)

Out of curiosity I looked up the part numbers to the valve cover bolts... for 7/90 - 11/91 the part number is 13224-40F02... for 11/91 on it's 13224-53F01. I wonder why the bolts are different? AFAIK the covers and heads are the same.. (part numbers obtained from www.carfiche.com)

I just looked the part numbers up at www.nismoparts.com, and only 13224-53F01 shows up (doing a search on 13224-40F02 pulls up 13224-53F01... so my question is answered).

13224-53F01 Bolt-rocker Cov $0.97 (List is $1.27)

I think (I'm not positive) the difference between the bolts were that the earlier version had a black oxide finish and the newer version has a zinc or cad plated finish.

what if you stripped one of the holes on the head itself, and now ur valve cover is leaking oil, because the bolt cannot be tightened? hmm? will chrome bolts help then? that's what i thought.
actually if any one has any ideas, i dunno if i should re-tap that hole, or all of them and re fit with new bolts or what not?
