Ok I'm building a race sr with tomei solid lifters and a full engine rebuild. In the mean time, I have an every day driver 240sx as a spare. I can't decide between a CA18det and a turboed KA24E. I know the Turboed KA can handle a lot more power but I'll have to tune it with an emanage and the ca is a direct bolt in. I'm trying to go for good gas mileage but want to make a cheap 200hp everyday driver. I've researched both for quite sometime. I have an SOHC 240 for the swap which is why I was thinking CA. SR is too expensive for a side every day driver project. The only thing I'm worried about with the KA24e is rebuilding the motor when I can get a clean CA for 1300. My ka is fine besides some head problems but I don't know how stable the bottom end is. I don't mind building the motor up but I figure it be cheaper to retune the CA. Anyone have any suggestions or some gas mileage examples? Thanks in advance. Either way I'm going to swap turbos and run larger injectors probably and definately end up using an emanage I'm guessing. Reminder: Every Day Driver Project *(Read Under 2500$)

Rebuilt KA24DE with the SR T25 turbo kit...
Will easily make 200WHP and be very reliable...

ka24et is the way I would go if I was you. Not only would you probably get better gas but much more unique at the same time =]

I have a KA24DE but I'd rather build the KA24E just because it be cheaper and it already has an amazing clutch. Keep the comments coming. KA24E-T is what I'm leaning towards right now.

ka....the idea of downsizing from 2.4 to 1.8, ? kind like taking out a cylinder from a ka. and the ka is already there.

i say rebuild that KA. If you do, it would be more realiable
when turbo'd. And also if you get a fix it ticket (only if its your daily)
it would be easy to go back to KA.

Same clutch...
The clutch you are running on the KA24E will work on the KA24DE...
Now start rebuilding the "DE"...

I'm rebuilding the sohc and putting a turbo kit on it. I'll post a write up when I'm finished. I'm going to start with just 7 psi then later on get an emanage and some injectors. That's after I build my sr. So I'll keep you guys posted.
