ok so I've has this intermittent problem about 5 times or so within the last year and now it has finally come and stayed s14 sr20det in s13. The car would run like shit and i would simply turn it off, wait a few mins, turn it back on and i was on my way again. Now i realize that was cylinder 1 not sparking causing it to run on 3. I checked the coilpack by switching out the others and turning it over and none work on cylinder 1, and cyl 1 works on the others. I have also checked my ignitor chip and seem to have the normal resistance with it and proper continuity. I am wondering if anyone has had something similar to this?
When i unplug the coil when running there is no difference at all.

Also i seem to be getting 12v after the ign chip to the coils, when i crank it it disapears but i only have a multimeter so its hard to pick up when cranking.

could the cas cause no fire on cylinder 1? or would it take out all of them?

also when looking at the wiring schematic from the fsm no1 coil branches off to some resistor??? not sure what this does or where it lives but could that be cauasing a problem.

anyone dealt with anythign like this before

thanks

might try finding a wireing diagram. if you could find out what all wires were on the connector and where they were comming from you could test the other coil pack connectory and see what voltages that they are sending. then check coil pack 1 and see if it shows the same.

It ended up being the ignitor chip, I traced the wires and everything was fine then I tried crossing between 1 and 2 before the ign coil and still no spark on #1. So right there had to be the ign. chip, swapped one in an away she went.
