Hey All, I was wondering what sort of implications there are to adding coilovers to my '91 240sx. Would I need to replace any other stock parts due to increased loads? Will stock parts work fine?
For example, fully stock 240. Add Megan track coilover kit. Will anything else be needed to be replaced in order to safely take the car to the track for drifting?
If I'm being too vague please let me know and I'll try my best to take my thoughts and clearly write them out :wan:
Thanks for your time guys!

well if your bushings aren't shot you should be fine

Thanks, will a quick visual inspection let me know (or any other method of inspection)?

visual will most likely show damage. You may want to invest in toe rods and rucas if you plan on slamming it like a pig, which you obviously want to do since you're buying coils

You're working on a '91, with likely a ton of miles on it. While you're in there replacing parts anyway, and while you're already getting the car re-aligned, take advantage of the time to replace your suspension bushings (or completely replace the arms if you're planning on it down the road), your tie rod ends and steering rack bushings, and your subframe bushings. I did the coilovers without everything else on my car and I could feel everything squishing around as I drove aggressively. Granted, my car was previously slammed and spooled, so the miles were harder on my stock parts versus what your car has seen, but since you're already in there, spend a few extra bucks and do everything- you'll be WAY happier!

Thanks for the tips =) I'll go ahead and start replacing all those parts.
Where would I go to get these parts? I'm presuming they'll be aftermarket and not stock replacements?
Also, it's a '91 with 111k miles on it! I was quite surprised as it's "fairly" low mileage for a car that old. :)

searching and some car suspension common sense will yield you alot more information and thus increase your knowledge on the topic.
hell you might even realize that the coilovers you chose suck.

Im sorry but i would have to disagree.. megan track coilovers are great coilovers for the price. I have seen many Happy Customers with them. The Street Coilovers are another thing though.
