View Full Version : Calling all San Diego Meet Organizers

I would like to introduce myself:
My name is Nick Wilcox, also known as...Moldy Oldy.
Over the past six months I have been trying to get the San Diego meets organized with a bit of success. Although it has been successful, it seems that the city of San Diego is too far reaching for all of us to have a single, unified meeting ground. As much as I love seeing a weekly 35+ car meet; and I love talking with all of you, the reality is that some people are driving 1 hour+ just to come to a local 240sx meet.
I've been running a small Nico named myspace. I use it to track local sales and needs of 240 members in and around San Diego. I use this page in conjunction with Nico and Zilvia to make new and old members aware of meets in there area. That way we are not having a tuesday meet in Chula Vista, then a weds meet in National City with 5 car turn out (although I heard Chula has some kick ass cars showing up lol).
Anyways...
If I could get every main organizer of EVERY MEET in SD to reply to this thread with their times and dates, I would appreciate it.
By giving me this information, I can then pass it to other members and maybe boost your attendance.
Here is an example of the format
Where: Mira Mesa Meet
Fudruckers on Mira Mesa
When: Every Tuesday
Time: 7-10
Cop Traffic: Little to none (no one has been popped at the meet, but they swing by to make sure no fights occcur)
Please be honest here. If you're meet has had problems, please state. Be considerate that some owners do not want anything to do with San Diego's Finest.
Thats it! I'll update the myspace and make sure members of both forums know where to go for your meets.
Maybe once a quarter we all can meet together and have a HUGE meet (like at a Nissan Dealership).
Anyways, thank you for your time and enjoy the drive!

Avante is the main organizer of the bi-weekly Thursday meets in CV, which we have had 2 so far and average showing is about 20+ cars. Location is off of E. Palomar in Chula Vista by the Ralphs and McDonalds.
Where: Chula Vista (Southbay) Meet on E. Palomar @ MCD's / Ralphs Parking lot
When: Bi-Weekly Thursdays
Time: 7p-10p+
Cop Traffic: None on the first meet and had 3 roll through on the second but I spoke to the police officer personally and he was fine with us having the meet as long as there was no trouble.
*Avante, hope you dont mind me posting on your behalf bro :)

Cool; I'll make sure to update the myspace a little later tonight.
If you or any of your attendees have a myspace account; please add us!
I only ask so that we can use it to help arrange a huge meet maybe once every quarter or something.
I'd like to get all the groups to know each other and network together, ya know?
Ocean Side:
Whats up with your meet? Someone on Nico said it wasn't happening where we have the info.

(although I heard Chula has some kick ass cars (http://zilvia.net/f/#) showing up lol)
yes there were a lot of kick ass cars. hah. that sounds like a great idea, people are more inclined to attend larger meets. how often are you proposing? a quarter? once every 3 months?
Imthel33test

once every 3 months would be cool. I'd attend.
moldyoldy240
09-29-2008, 11:02 PM
I'm proposing at the most once every 3 months.
We should know each. Seriously; we've all got connections, hook-ups and advice to bring to the table. Setting all ego's aside; we all love our cars. It's proven just by your own attendance at a meet. What you like to do with your car may be different; whether its show, drift, cruise, auto-x or just plain drive it into the ground!
I grew up in Chula Vista, I lived in RPQ and now I am living in Golden Hill... I know almost all the cities that are bringing meets. People from those areas tend to move more towards one particular thing, and I would like to see that reflected at a meet.
So ok...
Chula Vista has responded to the call
Mira Mesa is here
Whats up with O-side?
Can someone from that meet confirm something?
I'll try to get to the Chula Meet: When is the next one exactly so I can make a calendar?

Next one is next Thursday...not this Thursday but next Thursday. Mark your calendar ;)

Let's do it then... the idea died or what.
lets get this going. i think the first one should be to kick off the new year. on a saturday. maybe like the third week of jan.
mission bay sounds like a good idea, as it wont(shouldnt) be crowded during winter. i actually thought the parking lot by bennigans in mission valley, but then its busy around that time.
in order for us to have parking, we'd have to be there at the latest by 1030 or 11 am.
as of now, im aware of 3 major meets in sd.
CHula Vista, Mira Mesa, Oceanside.
if anyone knows anyone who attends/organizes the oside meet, someone let em know.
from past meets, the mira mesa and chula vista meets have both had a turnout of 30+ cars. if all goes well, we could have up to 70 or so cars.
if its at mission, we could/should bbq for lunch. have people bring shit for food.
just a thought...

^^^whats up dude.
this didnt last long.
What if we bust it on a Saturday at Belmont Park. They have that multi-car one there but it'll help avoid 5-0 if we're part of an already established event..
What do you think Marcus? Since Nick is MIA, you wanna make this happen? I know Roman, Louie, and the Thursday Motherf*cking Knights would be down. I'll even wake up the rest of HighRevSquad and make 'em dust off their panties.

Yeah...I heard about the Belmont thing but I hear theres trouble out there sometimes. It would probably be best to setup our own thing. Might I suggest a BBQ Meet? Me and some of my AE86 friends had one last year and it was all good times. This was our turnout:

If you want...we can start planning something this coming Thursday. I have no problem organizing it either and welcome any help or assistance. So...whats up guys?
BTW, this location was in the Mission Bay area...(obviously) and was cool with lots of parking yet low-key. We had no 5-0 roll through and even if they would have, we were just out having a good time...no racing or revving or dumb stuff like that. If everyone acts like they do at our Thursday meets in CV...we shouldnt have any problems.

Hi,
I'm new to the san Diego area. Anyone know a good spot to get an SR20 tuned?
Thanks for your help,
Peace

You could go with Jim Wolf Technology in El Cajon but I hear they are on the pricey side. Or talk to Steve Shadows he's in Mission Viejo and offers forum discounts on dyno tuning. But I think he only has access to the dyno on Sundays IIRC
