While under my car doing unrelated work I noticed what I believe to be the strut rod bushing on the right side had a huge crack in it. Im assuming this is one I have wheel shimmy @ 55-60 mph. Two questions, how dangerous is it to drive like this? Also, I know bushing need to be pressed in, I have nothing for this so would I be better off having a shop do this?

Thanks

um i believe you're referring to the tension rod bushing. you can get a stock one from another member here by posting in the wtb section, or do like most of us do and order aftermarket tension rods. then get an alignment.
i wouldn't say its necessarily "dangerous" to drive on it, but i'd get it replaced asap if i was you.

Both of my tension rod bushings were cracked, drove it like that for 8 months until I got my coilovers. There was no problems except that when I hit a bump hard it felt that the front wheel was about to come off. Their purpose was to protect your front struts. Energy bushings make them and they are three piece so you dont have to press them in, but you need to press the old one out, or go to nico they show you how to take the old one out by burning them.
